I had so wanted to write a very positive review of this neat little neighborhood restaurant, but sad to say, even though the quesadillas and the nacho platter were much better than average, and there was a great selection of draft beers, the service was virtually nonexistent, and we got bad info about the menu when we called in advance.
We arrived and seated ourselves and waited about 15 minutes for the (presumed) waitress to notice us. She was busy chatting up the folks at the bar. When I went to the bar to see if we could get served, she informed us that orders were to be placed at the bar. I don't mind that, but it sure would have been nice if she'd noticed us and told us that, or if there had been a sign.
We had called in advance to see if soft corn tortillas were available (I can't eat wheat tortillas) and we were assured that they had same, however, when we asked for tacos, we were informed that they were out of corn tortillas that day.
When I took my glass to the bar for a beer refill, the barmaid continued chatting up other customers, took orders and checked out two customers before acknowledging my presence. A little eye contact and even a "be with you in a moment" would have been real nice.
Once I took our orders to the kitchen, they arrived quite quickly, and as I said earlier, the food was tasty and hot.
I'll try again for the food, and hope that the waitstaff was just having a bad day.
