“MASTADON!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

At the end of the line for what will some day become the Cincinnati Street Car, you'll find the Rhinegeist brewery in OTR. Up a few flights of stairs, you'll discover a large warehouse room complete with brewing equipment, stacks of beer cans prepped for shipment, a couple bars, pica-nick benches, and cornhole boards.
As I understand, this served as the old Morelein brewery some time ago. The open industrial space is very cool. They have several beers of varying style and ABV to drink/sample, as well as a couple different bottles of wine for those so inclined. The Mastadon (Belgian Strong Ale) was out of this world!
We visited in the evening. I'm not sure what the late night scene is like, but I've heard good things that involve live music.

“Very cool building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The brewery is in a cool old building with ping pong, cornhole, and TVs. The beer is very good, but availability varies. I have been a few times and generally they have about 5 beers on tap including some that are only available at the brewery. One time they only 2 beers on tap, which was disappointing.

“Nicely Done!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Jim Matt is a fantastic brewer and should be applauded for his work at Rhinegeist, the beer is some of the best in the city hands down! Also the setup of the venue is unique, friendly and condusive to a community type atmosphere with the long tables, cornhole boards and other. Just waiting for them to setup stages for musical acts and this place will be rockin'

“Great beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

This place has great beer and the atmosphere is good for a night out. They even have corn hole. The only negative is no AC so it can get really hot in there.

“Find the Ghost”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

I reckon Few people just end up at Rhinegeist. It's a place you have to find. When you do you'll be glad you made the effort..look for the parking lot surrounded by chain-link on the west side of the 1900 block of Elm Street. Walk across Elm to the old brick building and proceed north a hundred feet of so and look for a Rhinegeist sign on the door. Map the stairs and you will enter the bottling floor of the long-abandoned Christian Morlein brewery (built about ten years before prohibition).
You've made it.
Now relax and sample some of the best beer in the country. I've been to dozens of micro-breweries across the USA and this is in the top tier. I had a pint of everything on tap and found each style to be a paradigm.
