Owner description: The Blue Wisp has been a fixture of the Cincinnati, and national jazz scenes for 33 years. Our stage has seen the best in local, national and international musicians. Jazz has a strong and rather unknown history in Cincinnati, producing a wealth of talent. There is music seven nights a week, all year long. Whether you’re a visitor, or a Cincinnati resident, we hope that you come discover this great American art form in our new venue at 700 Race Street in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

“The Best Jazz Venue in the Midwest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The Blue Wisp is an outstanding jazz venue pulling in the best acts. We've been to a lot of great jazz places, but you need to go to NYC,Chicago or Atlanta to find a better venue or lineup. They have a great selection of beers, too!

“The place for Jazz in Cincy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Went to the new location which was larger than the previous one. Went for the grand opening of the Rosemary Clooney Room and sawheard the big band she played with. There is another large area with a bar. Food is served. The band plays regularly.

“Not your father's Blue Wisp”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

My last trip to the Blue Wisp was almost 30 years ago - the music was great, the acoustics and food - not so much.

WOW !! The new location is amazing - with much better acoustics. I saw Brent Gallaher - which would have been just as welcome at the Blue Note as the Blue Wisp. (see my review)

Great jazz - great acoustics - and now the food. It was good, but not great. I had Chorizo mac and cheese, which just needed more Chorizio, and asparagus, which was a bit over cooked. Don't worry - it was still better than 80% of the restaurants I've been to - and did I mention the great jazz ??

So - if you are interested in the music first, with decent food, drinks, and atmosphere - you can't go wrong here. The $10 cover charge is amazing bang-for-buck - pay the money and enjoy !!

“Great jazz. Ok crowd. Weak food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012 via mobile

They need a sign that says pls whisper during the performance. Shame. First class musicians. Example of food was nachos which was cheese wiz and a few chips for ten bucks; we still laugh about that.

“Every flavor of jazz with a side order of good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

The Blue Wisp Jazz Club has been the premier jazz club in Cincinnati since the 1970's. It's latest move to 7th and Race may prove to be its best. This space, two rooms actually, is a larger space than the Wisp has ever had and came with a full-kitchen. If you don't feel like paying a cover (from $5 to $12 depending on the attraction) to sit in the stage space, you can have a very fine meal in the tap room and still hear the music. And what music it is. My favorite is Wednesday night Blue Wisp Big Band led by drummer John Von Ohlen. If you are in town on Jam Session Night which happens three times a month, you can sit in. Sandy Suskind, Sax/Flutist, leads the show. Or, after midnight get your late night blues on with Delbert Williams (no cover). The first Tuesday of every month goes latin with Mambo Diablo. Big names in Jazz and Blues from all over the country stop in Cincinnati to play the Blue Wisp.
