Description: The heritage of Cincinnati's storied brewing history comes alive along the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery. Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

“Fun brewery and pub near ballparks on river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Fun restaurant with dun indoor or outdoor seating overlooking the river and next door to the baseball stadium. Great food. Loved the fish tacos, Cuban and the calamari.

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Atmosphere by the river is nice. Large restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating and beer garden area, which is like a covered patio. The seating on the second floor was much to crowded when full (we were in the beer garden, but took a walk upstairs). Service pretty good. Food was average. The veggie burger was truly the worst one Ive ever had, but I enjoyed the appetizers we shared. Very large bar menu. Server seemed very knowledgeable about menu and drinks.

“Great view and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

You absolutely cannot beat the view and location of this restaurant - looking out over the Ohio River toward Covington, at the base of the Suspension Bridge, with the new park along the river. GORGEOUS. Event lawn adjacent is equally fabulous. The restaurant is very spacious and tables are well spread out. That being said the entire place has a very loud noise level (I think it all echoes off the hardwood and glass). It didn't seem overly crowded (we were there on a Wed evening early), but it was hard to hear one another talk.

As for the rest of the restaurant, it was good but I do have mixed feelings about it. No complaints on the food quality, it was quite good. BUT some items were extraordinarily overpriced -- the "overstuffed crab cakes" was ONE crabcake, and while it was large-ish, may 2-1/2" across, I certainly wouldn't call it overstuffed, but I WOULD call it overpriced at $13 for the ONE crabcake (down the river at another staple Cincinnati restaurant, you get 2 good size crab cakes for less). The cost of this appetizer, which feeds 1, is as much as many entrees. Other things were reasonable (lots of good sides for $3 each, you could make a meal out of them), and surprisingly the drink prices were very in line and respectable.

Service was also a little sketchy -- our waiter was quite nice and friendly, but did seem to forget things and needed some reminders. I didn't like the fact that there were a multitude of other people bringing out the dishes (not our waiter), who didn't know all the details about who ordered what, and often didn't even know what table they were supposed to be delivering the dishes to. So, overall, I would say GREAT LOCATION, great beers, some menu items are ridiculously overpriced although the food itself is good, and service is not consistent.
