Description: The heritage of Cincinnati's storied brewing history comes alive along the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery. Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

“GREAT beer, TERRIBLE food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

Go for the beer, which is truly inspired, and the atmosphere, which feels more like a cool place in Seattle or Vancouver than Cincinnati, but eat somewhere else. I've been here twice and both times the food was terribly disappointing. I love spicy Indian and Thai, but the amount of peppers used by their cook literally made me run to the bathroom, thinking I was going to throw up after the first bite of shrimp. The calamari was smothered in a thick remoulade sauce that was pretty disappointing and their flatbread pizza was just okay. The only thing that wasn't bad was their pretzels, a large portion and as good as the Hoffbrau House.
For atmosphere and beer, it puts the Hoffbrau House to shame, but as for the food, it's as if some frathouse cook has taken over the kitchen and is trying to punk all the diners by overly spicing all the dishes as a joke.

“Noisy and Trendy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

We were a little disappointed with our first visit here. It is very noisy, so not the best place for quiet conversation. Also, only a few tables get to enjoy the great river view. The beer selection of course was vast, and the menu was varied. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our food was quite good. Overall, it's a great place for the younger crowd but maybe not so good for those seeking a quieter venue. We may try again after the novelty of the place wears off.

“Outstanding - Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

We had a great time here. The beer selection is excellent. I enjoyed the Moerlein Northern Liberties IPA, which was excellent, so their house-brewed offerings should be taken seriously. Their line-up of guest taps was awesome as well - I got the Green Flash Palate Wrecker DIPA, which must certainly be a rare offering in these parts (comes from San Diego) - a real treat!

On a night when the Reds were out of town, there was still enough crowd that at 7:30 we were told the wait would be over an hour. After only 40 minutes, we were led to the 2nd floor dining room where the view of the river and bridge were nothing short of spectacular. Service and food were both excellent as well - modest but adequate portions, very appealing in presentation, fresh and delicious. This venue is architecturally magnificent - dining room was airy with high ceilings, wrap-around glass- it's just a great fun place to be. The interior accents and decor are all interesting and delightful.

If you like beer and want to experience the waterfront and stadium area, you can hardly go wrong here

“Great Spot across from Great American Ball Park!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

Took the family to a Reds game and went to the Moerlein Lager House across the street. We had such a good time! The wait was two hours but we got seated within 15 as we had a reservation which is a must. There is really nothing too different about this place than every other good stadium eatery but it was FUN-the waitstaff charming-the Moer burger fabulous and the beer ice cold!!! Fries were tired and wrinkly and the cheeseboard weak but the burger was excellent and isn't that really what you want before a Reds game? The Moer burger comes with thin sliced pastrami-crisp bacon, melted cheddar, a fried egg, sweet onion relish and black pepper mayo! Yum and worth every penny. The Moerlein cold beer is excellent and if you close your eyes, you could be sitting on the Rhine-well, if the beer was 10* warmer! One really fun aspect was the cold pail filled with "Little Kings" a Cincinnati tradition from the 1800's. I can remember summer afternoons with my father and grandfather sitting in the backyard with a cooler between them drinking bottle after bottle of Little Kings!! Now-that is really Cincinnati! Our waiter was great and made the whole experience a memorable one!! We will be back and we will savor the hour or two before the game with great enthusiasm. One other note-if you are a beer drinker this place might have more than 300 beers!

“Lager House . Fun atmosphere near Reds ballpark”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

We took family from out of town, and sat in bar area.Enjoyed the food and varieties of home brewed beer. The atmosphere was relatively causal but not too much, as one could be business casual as well. The server was well informed as to the many home crafted beers, adn the menu had numerous choices for all tastes. Great place to go before a Reds game, as one can walk across the street after dinner, and attend a game.
