“Downtown Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Loved this place - stayed here on a Saturday night with our 18 year old son prior to attending a Reds game. NIcely decorated, quiet room with plenty of amenities. Bedroom/living room situation with two TVs worked exceptionally well for our situation - son could stay up late watching a movie while my husband and I crashed early!

Best of all was the friendly service we received. Everyone on staff was extremely welcoming and attentive - ready to do anything to make our stay better. Location is outstanding - within easy walking distance to plenty of restaurants in the Fountain Square area, as well as Great American Ballpark.

Residence Inn Downtown will become our "go to" place to stay whenever we visit Cincinnati!

I know, it's a residence inn but this probably the best hotel in the city. It's about a mile walk to convention center and close to ballpark. It is modern, clean, friendly with nicely appointed rooms and lobby and sits in a fabulous old historical building.

I have stayed in several hotels in Cincy over the years, but this one is the best so far. We decided to stay here for a family weekend --- and we cancelled reservations at another place (Embassy Suites) --- because of the reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed in the least. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the property is in a good location downtown. Other reviews were disappointed with the breakfast, but it was a good breakfast for us. A little different than other residence inns, this property is actually a step above the others. Look forward to staying here again.

We enjoyed a three-night stay here to tour the city and attend a baseball game. Reasonable walk to all downtown sites. Great staff who were always helpful and courteous. Valet parking at $20 per day is the only real option other than metered parking on the street.

Room was very comfortable and bed was just right. We got a corner room (1014) which was quite large. It was to the left side of the hotel where we could see a bit of the baseball stadium. We were lucky because the stadium had fireworks that night (a Friday), and our view from the room was just perfect.

Free breakfast buffet food was just o.k., and is really the biggest criticism I have for the hotel (other than the parking charge). While the variety was good, the food tasted very "institutional". 24-hour free coffee in breakfast area was a nice touch. Food from lunch/dinner menu was pretty good!

The hotel is heavily used (a lot of bridal parties), so the lobby and bar area can be really loud and crowded until late in the evenings. In fact, avoid rooms near the front of the building because in talking with people staying in those rooms, they could hear the comings and goings of these parties until early in the morning. I'm sure those rooms are fine if there's no wedding party staying, so you may want to ask. They do have a better view with a park across the street looking toward the river.

Moerlein Lager restaurant had the best food we encountered on our trip (including the legendary Montgomery Inn bbq which was just so-so). At the Lager restaurant, go upstairs for a quieter area with a good view of the river and bridge. Especially nice at night.

One highlight of our trip was the American Sign Museum, which is a couple miles from downtown in an older industrial area, but well worth the visit. Be sure to attend one of the tours given a couple of times per day to really understand what you're seeing (the evolution of signs from hand-carved letters to full-sized Holiday Inn neon signs.) The Underground Railroad museum downtown was good with a lot of short video reenactments.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in '14' are in the corner and larger.

This is an excellent location for any activities planned in downtown or Northern KY - or really for any where in the area as it's centrally located. We stayed here and walked to the Green Bay Packer / Cincinnati Bengal game with ease. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgable. Looking forward to another stay here.

As an avid Reds fan and visiting visiting from Australia to watch them play the Braves and the Rockies, we chose this hotel as it was so close to Great American Ball Park and also based on Trip Advisor reviews.
For $200 a night we got a large room with full kitchen, large LCD TV and a very comfortable bed. The complmentary breakfast was good and the service was excellent.
A great place to stay and the Reds winning - who can ask for more.

Stayed in Room 901 on our first visit through Cincinnati. A fully restored grand old building. Our room was huge with a full kitchen, separate bed room with a king bed. Comfortable furniture, solid walls kept the room absolutely silent even even on a sold-out night. Within walking distance of downtown and stadiums for Reds and Bengals. Enjoyed full morning breakfast (included) and then enjoyed a great coffee and relaxed on the front terrace.

Room Tip: Our room 901 had plenty of windows, but the view was somehwhat blocked by an old (but restored) fac...
