“Surprised this is a tourist destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

Since my Dad and grandparents are buried there, I was surprised to see this listed as a destination. But it is really beautiful there and would be a great place to walk. There are an amazing number of historical people buried there.

“Letterboxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

We traveled here to go letter boxing and was pleasantly surprised. The grounds are stunning and the buildings are lovely. We saw three different walking trails while driving thru and a tram. They have tours on different days of the week for those who want to learn more. Apparently there are about 40 miles of road paths. We only saw the first half.

“Not just a cemetery. ..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014 via mobile

Sounded strange to me to spend the day with our family at a cemetery however it was great. We went as the cherry blossoms were in bloom and it was beautiful. We stopped at the visitor center where there is plenty of parking, picked up a map (clean restrooms too) and headed out on walk. The maps clearly show the paths, varying in length. We spent a few hours wandering through with 4 kids under the age of 6. There are so many places to stop and rest or take pictures. All the paths are color coded and easy to follow. The architecture is beyond impressive and made beautiful back drops for family photos. We will definitely return!

Great history value here with all of the Civil War generals who are buried there. Salmon P Chase is also buried there in addition to wonderful landscapes.

“History!”

Largest cemetery I've been to. Sprawling Rolling hills, beautiful design with lots of history and memories for anyone who visits.
