“Hike a National Historic Landmark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I run a large hiking group in the Cincinnati area, and believe it or not, Spring Grove is a popular location for groups to hike/walk. The grounds are beautiful and full of history. Be sure to stop at the grave of Johnny Appleseed while you are there. Spring Grove is one of only a few cemeteries that is listed as a national historic landmark.

“A wonderful walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

In the heart of Cincinnati, this old but still active cemetery is a walker's delight. There is a conscious effort to go beyond simple landscaping and some of the trees are old and great. The tombs and headstones cover generations of taste and art.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Spring Grove Cemetery is beautiful enough that people take photographs in this cemetery, which I think is kind of strange, but makes sense when you see it. Spring Grove is the final resting place of some very famous Cincinnatians and is worth a visit for those interested in the history of the area or just interested in taking in the natural beauty.

“One of the very best rural cemeteries in the USA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

If you love cemeteries, you will "die" when you see all that this cemetery has to offer! It is on the National Historic Register, and there are also many National Trees in the cemetery. The office has walking tours and driving tours, with maps that are really detailed (including the residents that are close to intersections, for example). Since it was a slightly chilly day in November, we chose to drive until we saw something we wanted to stop for, and then get out for photographs. That didn't take long - there are many, many examples of funerary art in this cemetery. Large female statues mourning, mourning angels, many tombs with fantastic ornamentation ~ around every corner is another beautiful monument. We fully expect to return on a spring or summer day for a different experience and to see more of this lovely park.

“Spring Grove Cemetery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We had some time to kill and wanted to get in a little exercise. This was the perfect place for a nice, peaceful stroll. The landscaping, monuments and water features where lovely. There was a pond with ducks and swans. We took a few pictures and they all turned out visually pleasing. Plenty of parking and benches to rest.
