“Business Comfort at its Best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Stayed at the Westin for a company awards banquet and ceremony. This hotel is very centrally located and has both valet and self-park options, although the self-park can be tricky as it is an underground garage with no elevator or stairway entrances directly from the hotel. The hotel is actually part of several buildings interconnected by skywalks, so when you first enter the atrium, you do not feel like you have actually arrived at a hotel, but once you take the elevator to the second floor, you suddenly note you have entered a comfortable, modern hotel with an eye for detail and its customers. Check-in was efficient, and we were pleased with the size and cleanliness of the room. Thermostat did not work great - room was extremely warm due to the afternoon sunlight, and when we set it at 65 to cool down, it took the majority of the evening and never got below 68. Bathroom is spacious, and the rain shower head with handheld device were a pleasant luxury compared to your normal tub.shower combos. Spent the later hours of the evening at the hotel bar, which has a decent collection of spirits, wines, etc (although expect the normal hotel bar price gouge - $50 for 2 martinis and a mixed drink with tip). Downside to the hotel - no continental breakfast or real restaurant associated with it. There is a grab&go type restaurant on the main floor, but if you want any other food, you must go through room service or elsewhere. All in all, another decent Westin stay, and we will continue to trust this brand of hotels.

Stayed here for a conference from Thursday to Sunday and had a great experience. The hotel staff was wonderful. The king size bed room on the 11th floor was great - roomy and comfortable. Floor to ceiling windows were good for the view. There was a power strip on the desk in the room and a second powerstrip by the bed. The elevators were a little slow especially during busy times of the day. You also have to swipe your room key in the elevators to get to your floor - great for security but inconvienent. There are inside walkways to nearby shops and restaurants. Plenty of places to eat in the immediate area. The conference facilities are excellent. The wine bar in the lobby is a little pricy compared to options around the hotel location. Other guests on lower floors said that there wasn't much of a view from the room. Taxi to and from the airport was $35 each way.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor for nice views of the fountain, river, or football stadium

Pro's- location, Fountain square downtown, walking distance for most business locations (10 minutes to P&G for instance); Also -very friendly stuff, helpful and attentive. Also loved their Green program- offering a $5 voucher for each day you decline housekeeping. Also -contrary to other reviews, the elevators work quite Ok, never had to wait for more than 1 minute..

Cons -no included breakfast (although the one at the downstairs Ingredients it's pretty good and not so expensive), room temperature control is awful (a terrible A/C unit -noisy and manual controls only), bathroom with furniture that shows its honorable age, small tub).

Overall -not a bad deal, but hardly meeting expectations for an international chain at this level.

Room Tip: Fountain Square view rooms are better.

While this Westin is certainly not what I would call luxurious, the rooms are large, clean, and meet a traveler's needs in Cincinnati. The bathroom has plenty of storage, thick towels and a healthy flow of hot water in the shower. The location, on Fountain Square, is ideal for sightseeing, ball games, dining, cocktails, and cultural activities. The staff is warm and accommodating, if a bit inexperienced. Charlie, a car attendant, has wonderful advice on what to see and where to go in Cincinnati He is would make a wonderful concierge. The Westin is a good choice when staying in this gentrifying city. Did I mention the Westin accepts dogs? BOW WOW!

Has everything I could want from a business hotel: comfortable, nice room; fast Internet; convenient restaurant downstairs (heck they even made a veggie omelet for me w/o the full cost of a buffet); easy walking distance to lots of businesses downtown.

My only negative is the Westin chain doesn't give you United miles like Marriott - only if you fly Delta. I get that CVG is a Delta hub but still - Starwood should work with other carriers.

Room Tip: I faced the fountain and it was nice - though not much going on when it's 27 degrees out.

Location is pretty convenient for events in downtown Cincinnati and across the river in Covington. Beds are comfy heavenly beds, rainfall shower heads are nice, pool is always a hit with the kids. There are just a couple of negatives that cause my three star review.

1. The parking garage below the hotel is insane if you have a bigger vehicle. Ive been in a million of them and it's easily top 5 worst. I have a suv with parking guidance and still break out into a sweat trying to make it around the teeny tiny concrete turns.... Usually switch and take the hubby's Prius if I remember beforehand how bad it is.

2. The elevator situation in the hotel. Omg. It's out of control. There are always 20 people standing around waiting on any one of the three to show up. Overheard one person say they had waited 20 minutes earlier that day, another one saying when they were there the weekend before the staff was taking people up/down in the staff elevators, saw more than one group of people give up and take the stairs from the TENTH floor! Lol! Wasn't a major issue for us but could easily cause problems if in a time crunch.

If your going to be anywhere downtown this place is great. Fountain Square is right across the street. You can walk to a Reds/Bengals game. Restaurants aplenty as well. Would have given it an overall 5 but the lounge and restaurant are inadequate.
