We have been members of the zoo for several years. I think I enjoy the time there as much if not more than the kids (4 & 7) do. We have visited several other zoos recently, including the very expensive and infamous, San Diego Zoo and there is not much missing in Cincinnati (except the Pandas). Now that I have other zoo's to compare to, I am able to fully appreciate the Cincinnati Zoo. It has very well themed exhibits, where the animals look like they are out in the wild. They also have a decent amount of space for a zoo that is land locked in an urban area. The biggest downfall to the zoo (and many places in the city of seven hills) is that the zoo is hilly and the walking can be tiring, for the parent pushing the stroller/wagon, or the little kid walking it on his or her own. It would also be nice if there was a larger play area for the kids that had some type of animal theme that was good for little and older kids alike (Nashville's zoo has a great play set). I have recently discovered how fun the zoo is bundled up and visited during the colder months. The Penguin walk is a huge thrill for the kids, to see them out on the grounds waddling around. There are less crowds and the animals are very active when it is cooler out. I am not however, as huge a fan of the Festival of Lights. The lights are beautiful, however it is always SO crowded, parking is a nightmare and there are very few animals out and about. We go every year, but each year I think why do we torture ourselves like this. Overall, great value and great gem right here in Cincinnati, Ohio !
