“Wonderful B&B in an historic home, with outstanding breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

A lovely large old home situated close to Whitman College and not that far from downtown.

We spent a lovely visit here over the Father's day weekend. Our room was the Idlewild, a very comfortable and spacious room with a large sitting area and an outdoor deck as well. Very classy furnishings and homey space, and the balcony would be greatly appreciated if it hadn't rained so hard.

We were delighted and completely surprised by the terrific breakfast feast prepared for us for Father's Day brunch (included with the cost of the room). We had the terrific Walla Walla sweet onion pie (a sort of quiche stuffed with the local favorite), with a great assortment of fresh baked pastries, chocolated dipped strawberries, etc. etc. It was a feast, prepared by a fascinating young lady (who won the Demolition Derby in Dayton the night before).

Cudos to Alexis, the new owner, for her attentiveness and for running a first class establishment. We'll be back when we're in Walla Walla.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are nice; Idlewild was great!

The house is charming & clean. The bed & pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast was just right, fruit & omlete. The coffee was average. I would stay here again & recommend this location to others.

Our room (Dryads Bubble) was large with a nice work area and a very comfortable king bed. The weather was warm enough to have coffee on our private deck in the morning!

Breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices. Alexis is a very gracious hostess and attentive to her guests.

First time in a bed and breakfast and it was a wonderful experience. the stay and play package with the bottle of wine and golf balls was a nice touch. only area that needs some improvement would be a warming oven in the kitchen to keep food warm. the four choices for breakfast all looked good, but my pancakes were cold.

Room Tip: We looked at all rooms and they were all excellent

We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Green Gables Inn. It was an elegant and romantic place to stay! Alexis had a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne waiting for us in our suite.

The suite had a cozy gas fireplace, lovely furnishings and a comfortable bed. Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast cooked by her chef.

Alexis had many helpful suggestions on restaurants and activities in the Walla Walla area. We are looking forward to staying at Green Gables again!

My wife and I needed a quiet place to retreat and Green Gables exceeded our expectations. Alexis is a charming young woman who was professional, conscientious and hospitable. The rooms were well appointed and huge. The Idlewild Suite was a combo of master bed, sitting area, bath and walk in closet. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean and tidy, and the ambiance was romantic. The room was so quiet it seemed to have been sound proofed, even though it is across the street from one of the Whitman College dormitories. We barely saw students there and when we took a mid evening stroll, the neighborhood was extremely quiet and safe. This location makes it ideal for family and friends visiting a Whitman College student (fraternities are a five minute walk from the B&B).

Breakfast was fresh and homemade. The egg, cheese and bacon filled home made muffin w/marionberry jam was filling and delicious. Granola, oat meal, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, two kinds of pastries, three kinds of juices, coffee and tea, were too much for us to handle.

Overall, this was one of the best B&Bs we've visited in our 31 yrs together...thanks, Alexis!
Bottom line: if you're looking for a quiet, romantic and easy-to-access place while visiting Walla Walla, WA, this is the place.

A colleague and I decided to stay in a B&B on a recent trip to Whitman College. I came across Green Gables Inn through a Google search of B&Bs in Walla Walla. Green Gables was mentioned in a New York Times article. The current owner recently took over the Inn. She is young. Her energy and vision are evident in how she cares for details. The small touches set apart this historic Inn. My colleague and I were the only guests this past Sunday night/Monday morning. My suite (Idlewild) was huge and very comfortable. It has a fireplace and a private balcony with its own sitting area. My colleague stayed in a very comfortable room, as well, Dryad's Bubble. Monday morning's breakfast came in two stages: the continental was set up when I got up: juices, yogurt, pastries, coffee and tea, granola. The hot breakfast came out about 8:30: Citrus French Toast, Maple Sausage, fresh fruit. It was a great stay. This would be a great place to bring friends for a wine-country adventure.

Walla Walla has some notable restaurants. It's certainly up and coming as a wine region. The winter weather is much better than the Seattle. And, it's not as pricey as Napa.

I recommend this for anyone looking for an off-the-beaten-path holiday.
