This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. We were in the Bunkhouse, which was adorable, but it did have a slightly odd odor. We never figured out what it was, I suspect it was just due to the age of the building. However, that nice big bathtub made up for it (and the tilework around the bathroom mirror was really lovely). If we stay there again, we'd choose one of the larger cottages that have cable TV, just because we'd been away from TV for several days, and would have liked to have been able to watch one national newscast. We'd driven in from Yakima and didn't really feel like going out for dinner that night. So we picked up a surprisingly good chicken Caesar salad, a couple of pears, and a fresh baguette from the local Safeway, and shared a bottle of wine on the brick patio behind the Bunkhouse. It was wonderful! And thanks to the innkeepers for stocking decent wine glasses, it made our to-go dinner much more enjoyable. We also met a very sweet tortoiseshell cat, but we can't remember her name. I was fortunate enough to get several photographs of the sun setting over the vineyard outside our back door. It was very warm that night, but we kept the bedroom windows open and slept quite well. Breakfast was served in what I think is the winery tasting room, which was gorgeous. All I remember was eating sweet pineapple and Rainier cherries in an open-beamed room, while sipping smooth, rich coffee. I wish we could have spent more time there, not only on the Abeja winery grounds, but exploring the many wineries in Walla Walla.
