One of our daughters wanted to visit Washington wine country and asked my husband and I to come as well. So searching tripadvior I found Stone Creek Manor. What a wonderful place to stay! Christine Beito is a very warm and welcoming host. She can tell you some of the best wineries to visit and some of the interesting history of the town of Walla Walla. But it is her B & B which just knocked our socks off! We stayed in the cottage called "the Office". A surprisingly large and beautifully appointed get away which can sleep four. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable, this cottage has a very comfortable king bed in one room and a queen in another. There is a complete living room, dining room, kitchen, kitchen nook, full bath and half bath. Outside there are comfy seating, tables and umbrellas where we spent one afternoon dining alfresco after visiting the local charcuterie for bread, cheese, dried meats and of course, there was wine! In the mornings Christine and her staff prepared wonderful breakfasts which were very generous in portions. On our last day, my husband and I were the only guests and Christine still insisted on serving us a fabulous breakfast with enough food to feed four or more. She even accommodated my gluten free diet which I greatly appreciated.
The grounds of the B & B is a large grassy lawn securely gated. From the road you see the stately main house in the middle of the property and glimpses of the two cottages off to the left behind the house. Entering the driveway you may be greeted by the two labs and a cat who reside there, and Christine herself will definitely meet you the first time you drive up. Everything is so neat and well taken care of and very picturesque.
We visited Walla Walla in the spring and found the area to be blooming with wheat fields covering the rolling hills and fruit orchards filled with blossoming trees. The weather for that time was clear, cool and crisp. The town of Walla Walla is a surprise. It was like stepping back in time to small town Americana, lovely original homes, grassy front lawns, people walking and biking because you can and the town is still small enough to do so.
We're planning our next trip back and we plan on staying at Stone Creek Manor!
