I am in the process of planning another group trip to Vicksburg in the near future. I like to use Hamptons because I am usually able to count on a quality product. Unfortunately, in Vicksburg the Hampton Inn does not live up to the standard. I was disappointed by bits of trash in the outdoor hallways and the overall appearance of the property. But, what I found most disturbingwas the attitude of its employees. While I in part sympathize with a challenge the front desk was having with another group of young people at their property at the time, the treatment my group was given was totally unacceptable. I received thank you notes from other hotels that were used during the trip based upon the outstanding behavior of the young people on my tour. In Vicksburg, they were harrassed and belittled. They failed to deal with their unruly guests and instead treated quality young people as if they were a bother.

My husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn at the end of Dec 06. This hotel is just beautiful, with excellent service. The rooms are very spacious and very clean, the service was also very good - very polite and welcoming. Breakfast was included in our rate and the dining area is very relaxing, and spacious. A contintental breakfast is offered, and the breakfast area is spacious so there is no pushing to get to the toaster! On check in there is cookies and juice available, which I thought was a nice touch. This hotel is worth the expense and it is located just across the road from the Vicksburg National Military Park.

Agree with all the other comments. Easy to find, ideal location for the National Park, friendly staff, beautiful room. Even had a complimentary bar / drink service for 2 hours (wine and beer) - don't know if this is a daily event or we were just lucky! Next door to a petrol station with shop and ATM.

We were in Vicksburg, MS for a family wedding. This hotel is new and all the staff were wonderful, especially Dee Dee Wylie. She went above and beyond to help our family feel at home and welcome. If you are traveling with kids this is the place to stay. Everything was so clean and well organized. HH members should check into the 5th floor suites...primo. This is in the top 10 hotels that we've stayed in the world including a few Ritz Carltons. BRAVO!
