We chose Cherry Street cottages because they had good reviews and when talking to the Innkeeper, she made everything sound great. Arriving in town for our stay, we could not even get anyone to answer the phone so that we could get directions. Once we did find the place we had to figure out how we would get our pick up in the drive way, as it was so narrow and we were not advised that there was a drive way in the back. Parking was very tight. Parking arrangements are competitive with the Innkeepers. When we were greeted at the door, it was by a very large sounding dog. She never stopped barking. We were not invited in the house, which I was thankful of at the time.We stayed in the little cottage right behind the house. It was cozy and clean. Although the carpet was less than desirable and needed a good shampooing. The website and brochures had details of beautiful flowers and garden. The only thing that we could see was a bunch of over grown wild flowers and a little garden in need of some work. Apparently that was in the works, because the back yard of the house, which was our view, was junked up with a planting table, pots, soil, lots of bricks, ladders etc. We were informed that breakfast was at 8:30. Well, needless to say, I was afraid to go into the house because of the dog. I did think that since this was a business, and we were coming to eat, they would put her up. That was not the case. The two dogs that the Innkeepers had stayed at our feet begging for food or kept their heads in our laps the whole time. The cat they let in, helped himself and jumped on the table. We like animals, yet all of this was unacceptable! The second day of breakfast we decided that a Bed & Breakfast may not be our thing. We had to sit with another couple and be forced into conversation and it was uncomfortable for both couples. The breakfast experience that am was the worst ever. Again, we had to fight the animals and they would not leave us alone. I am not sure what the lady made to eat but it was HORRIBLE. Not to mention that it resembled the looks of the VOMIT that the dog expelled twice under the breakfast table, so it was very hard to even try to eat it. I do not think that we will return to this place. The house may have had some great history, but we couldn 't enjoy it. They had tried to restore the house, but with all the clutter and dust, the make shift wallpaper job, and again the ANIMALS, it was not a comfortable place at all. The Innkeepers were very nice people, but they do need to get rid of the animals and possible hire a housekeeper for when they have company. A good cook may be in order too.
