“Best Hamburgers anywhere close to Vicksburg and the surrounding areas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

Vicksburg ms is an historic city with it's hey-day during the 1800s; the decorum in Beechwood does not part with the historic theme, except the era portrayed is that of 1987 as opposed to 1887... But that's the only negative.

The food (red meat dishes) are excellent. The steaks and burgers are hands down the best in Vicksburg. My favorite, the Rocky Burger, is a thick beef patty covered with Swiss, sautéed mushrooms and served on an awesome sourdough bun.

Advice: pace yourself!

“Raw Ribeyes”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

1st visit to Vicksburg and the parking lot was full so we pulled in to see what these folks were providing. Met by a friendly hostess at the door and told about the Steak special in the lounge, so why not. When the steaks arrived, they were bleeding, not rare, RAW. After notifying the manager, apologies were made, but this particular cook didn't know what he/she was doing.

“Excellent meal, very friendly staff, close to National Military Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

This was one of the few restaurants open on Sunday evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were a little hesitant when we saw it from the road, but the friendly staff immediately made us feel welcome. It's definitely not a fancy place, but the food and the hospitality make it special. Excellent fish, and excellent local beer.

“overpriced for the portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

After reading several reviews, decided to get this place a try. Food was good but very overpriced for what you get. Two of us had blackened catfish filet (about a 2 or 3 oz size) with 4 breaded shrimp. This came with potato and salad and was $16.99, ouch!! other couple had stead, one the 6 oz filet and scallops (2) she opted for bacon wrapped @ $2.00 upgrade so her meal was $29.99 (ouch) They suggested she let the chef filet the filet in half for a quicker cooking time and it was just very done and dry. The other person order the ribeye and his looked like it was cooked as ordered. Not sure which size he got but was more than he could eat. They had a couple of craft beers and their meal was around $70.00 ours was around $50.00. Very friendly staff!

“Best fish and best steak we have ever eaten.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

The food was so good, that I wanted to know what their hours were the next day!
Ok, so the atmosphere isn't swanky...it isn't even updated. With food this good, who cares? Do not let the curb appeal stop you from dining here.
We started with an appetizer sampler of fried mushrooms, fried, pickles, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. All were very good and served with their house dressing and ranch. Both made at the restaurant.
I am a picky fish eater, but our awesome server (Tia) reccommended the special, a Barramundi filet. As I tend to always slather a filet of fish in some sort of sauce, I ordered the crab cream sauce with it. Boy am I glad it was on the side. One bite of that filet, and I knew I didn't want anything to take away from the it's seasoned and grilled perfection. AMAZINGLY delicious. $18.99 with a salad (excellent) and a side (super cheesy mac and cheese to share with the kids).
My husband ordered the "Show Stopper" ribeye (24oz. also to share with the kids). I almost never order steak at a restaurant....I am picky about it, maybe even more than fish. This steak exceeded both of our expectations. Being from Dallas, we have many options for fine steakhouses. While they are quite good, they are also quite pricey. This 24oz monster ribeye was priced at only $34.00. Just like the fish, it was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The house made au jus that comes with the steak is out of this world. In fact, we told them that it was so great that they should sell it! Guess what? They do. We bought a pint (and some steak seasoning) and are keeping it iced down all the way back to Dallas.
Though we were stuffed, we were on vacation and decided to try some sweet goodness. The brownie sundae was excellent, but the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was my favorite.
The next time you are in Vicksburg, you have to eat here. We will plan future trips through town to ensure we are able to enjoy another meal. Ask for Tia, and do yourself a favor and order something that Big D has grilled up. He is a grill master (and he makes the au jus)! I'm hungry just thinkng about it!!
