My wife and I took at short vacation to Vicksburg on Jan 3rd and 4th. The last night there, we decided to eat at a nice restaurant, Rusty's Riverfront Grill. We were seated immediately and the service was excellent, but the food was very disappointing.
I ordered the 3 combo (scallops, oysters - fried, and crab cake). The scallops were just ok and the oysters didn't taste like oysters. Both were so salty, it just destroyed the taste of both. The crab cake was cooked over done. The baked potato was good. The bread and honey butter were awesome together. Caesar Salad dressing was over powering, but I liked it fine.
My wife ordered the fried shrimp. She ate 2 pieces and she took the rest back to the hotel room where it was not eaten there either. Couple of shrimp still had the vein in them and they were very stringy.
Got the fried pickle chips on the appetizer, salty. But the sauces that came with them, made it ok.
Again, the service, the location, the overall look of the restaurant were perfect, but I have had better seafood at the Red Lobster. The prices were a little outragous for what you got. For my wife and I (2 sweet tea's, 2 dinner salads, 1 appetizer,2 dinner entree's) = $60.00
So go for the sweet tea and the honey butter and bread. Don't know about the steaks. Now I wish I would have gotten one.
Again, service and location, 4 stars, but soon the location won't be good. It is easy to see that Vicksburg is a dying town.
