THE GOOD - Great location to all the attractions, employees were semi-warm. The pool was nice about 3 feet to 10 feet. Signs to the ice, vending, & laundry machines were well posted. The free breakfast was the highlite of our stay. A full southern breakfast. Plenty of Civil War Artifacts on display. The rooms were great, we had a microwave and small fridge, a recliner, a king size bed. The Parrots were under rated and non social. Low to no noise at night making for a great sleep environment. Adequate TV channels
THE BAD - Bring your own pillows, these were flat no fluff at all. Shower first, or get an early breakfast. Because the linen is removed and is not replaced. We slept in late & went to breakfast at 9:00. On our return we noticed the linen was gone and there would be no more until 12:00 or 1:00 said an employee. Check out was at 12:30. The Inn could have placed a sign @ the off ramp to help get to the hotel.
THE UGLY - The air conditioning is cut off from 9:00 to 4:00 to conserve electricity & "to keep the cost down", but you were able to request that your room air be left on. There is a ceiling fan and we were comfortable with that and the opened window.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by four charming parrots in the beautiful lobby. A player piano and incredibly helpful staff were also part of a great first impression. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, the pool and courtyard are outstanding, and the restaurant served the best food I've ever eaten. We were treated to cocktails each evening and a full hot buffet breakfast each morning. It was incredibly convenient to see all the sights that Vicksburg has to offer, because the hotel is in a prime location. The staff was very accomodating, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and help us decide what to do to make the most of our stay. The price was much less than I would have expected for a place as nice as this! I would recommend this place to all.

The parrots were a fun touch, as well as the player-piano in the lobby. The breakfast food was good. However, we reserved an "Executive Suite" with "in-room steam bath and jacuzzi" according to the web-site description. When we arrived and checked in, the room was an ordinary room with NO jacuzzi and the furniture in the room (night stand and TV stand) was torn up. They gave us the run-around about the room. In the end we had to pay the full price for an "Executive Suite," $75, and we spent two nights in a room that should have cost less than half that. Plus, the free drinks were literally watered down. The wine was undrinkable (imagine watering down wine). We just gave our drink tokens back without using them all.

This very unusual hotel has some delighful features. But if you love to eat? The restaurant's delicious evening meal is really something! I don't think I have enjoyed a steak dinner more. The warm spinach salad with carmalized pecans or walnuts and feta cheese drove me crazy! Add a rum drink and Southern hospitality and I was transported to another time and place. I loved it.

You are greeted first by four parrots in the lobby who just set the whole tone of this quirky, but excellent hotel. Drinks by the pool and breakfast are included in the price which makes it good value as well.
The restaurant boasts a French chef and the food certainly comes up to standard, with a welcome relief from the gigantic servings that seem to be the norm in the States. Staff were welcoming and accommodating and the rooms were spacious and clean. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants a change from the chain-hotel run. The Battlefield Museum opposite is small, but earnest and heartfelt, and is well worth a visit.
