The following letter was sent to the Vicksburg location and to Jameson Inns headquarters.... Pictures were sent substantiating the lack of cleanliness and issues with the lack of services. No one ever contacted me and I find that a problem also. I had even enrolled in their rewards program but that doesn't look promising!
"During the last few months, various members of my family (at different times) have stayed at Jameson Inns during my sister's illness. The Pearl, MS location was very nice and accommodating. We have also used Jameson Inns on various vacations in the south in the last few years. We have been pleased with our stays up until now.
My sister passed away 1/20/06. As we traveled to the Vicksburg location (where she is buried) we did check other hotels along the way and no one had rooms available for a large amount of family. Upon arrival in Vicksburg, we were pleased that Jameson did have room for us and we expected the same quality that we had been experiencing. We rented three rooms for various amounts of time. (1/21-1/24) I have some complaints that were not voiced at the time due to the fact that we could not leave because of the funeral and the amount of family needing to stay together. Things were already tense enough without having to worry about hotel rooms. (Apparently the staff did realize that there were problems with the rooms, and the first room checked out of, I was given a cut rate.)
The first night, and first room rented (217), I had to immediately go purchase an odor neutralizer for the room (the office did not have any) due to the cleaning sprays used. It was as if a concentrated formula was used or a whole can of "fruit" spray. Since my mother and I both have allergies, it was necessary to control the smell. We used the odor neutralizer spray in the other rooms as more family arrived. The cable was out and not available until middle of the night (approximately 1AM) - therefore no TV was available at all. We sure could have used that to relax, since we had been up over 24 hours. I believe there was also a problem with the water in this room (after obtaining the other rooms and having water in the lobby).
The next day I rented two more rooms. (203 & 115) I was told only suites were available. After looking inside the fridge and microwave in 115, I insisted on their removal and an adjustment. The items were unusable. The smell and filth was awful. They were removed and my rate adjusted for the room. I requested the items to be removed from 203 also, and to have my rates adjusted. Since a suite only adds a mini fridge, coffee pot and microwave, those are easy enough to move out if necessary. Management was agreeable and very nice about doing so. Upon check out of 115, we were charged for only one night instead of two, and the manager told us they would be giving us a break on the other rooms also. That did not occur when the manager checked us out.
I rented three different rooms and all three had problems. All rooms rented had cleanliness issues and cable TV issues. Pictures are enclosed. Although the manager did come to the rooms to try and fix the TV, we did not have the services advertised on the signs in the rooms, and more specifically, none of the sports or movie stations were available in the rooms. However, the stations were in the lobby, just not in the rooms. We also requested the use of the breakfast area/lobby one night for family to meet. We were told the roof workers had it, although I never saw them using it. I had even offered to clean up if needed. Non-smoking rooms were requested, but when we went to 203, there were ashtrays present (the others did not have any ashtrays). There were no phone books in the rooms and I had to borrow one from the front desk. It should have been advertised that computer services were available, in conjunction with another hotel in the area. That would have been helpful to know that for contacting family members, but no signs were up in reference to that fact. Room 203's shower rod was ready to break at any moment. When the fridge's were removed, they could have at least vacuumed that spot - another filthy area, even after removing the fridges. Upon leaving, we realized we were completely surrounded by renovation and the only ones on that side of the building, other than workers renovating. We probably should not have been in that area due to safety reasons. I do have to say, that the roofers tried to wait until 8-8:30AM to start work, and that is late for roofers. That was appreciated.
Although it may seem that some of this is petty to someone running a hotel business, there were a total of 7 people staying there, plus others that now are aware of the situation, that will not recommend this hotel. We are aware that roofers were working, and that breakfast was hard to maintain due to the roofers eating multitudes of food. I can accept that. But cleanliness issues and lack of advertised services is another issue. We will be returning to the Vicksburg area, but I do not believe we will be returning to Jameson Inns in Vicksburg. This is unfortunate, since we have really enjoyed our other stays with Jameson Inns.
I am requesting a further adjustment to our bill and a response from corporate headquarters."
Pictures were added in the original letter, as well as with this review. Please look at them! We won't be staying there again!
