“We Were Pleasantly Surprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

While on our way home we were looking just for somewhere to stop and stay overnight. No offense to Vicksburg but we weren't exactly expecting a lot given how road weary we were at this point in our road trip. This was a great experience from start to finish though. The staff was great and the room was beautiful. We stayed in a king suite on the first floor. Usually staying on the first floor of a hotel doesn't impress me, but our room had a beautiful view of the manicured courtyard. We were able to sit on our porch, enjoy the evening and relax from a long day of travels.

We arrived on 6/15 @ 8:30 pm after sitting on I20 just 12 miles away for 1 1/2 hours in a traffic jam, so we were very happy to be able to get there to check in. While my kids were unpacking the car, I walked inside to check into the hotel and smiled at the gentleman at the front desk who couldn't be bothered to even look up. I smiled at him throughout the entire process just to see if I could get him to crack a grin to no avail. The front desk personnel should always been a welcome sight for weary travelers.

Our room was lovely. Great details was given to an obvious recent updating and it was noticeable. The AC worked very well and the beds were great!

The lobby was just recently upgraded and it was very nice......except for the scent fans that were giving off too strong a smell. The Starbucks coffee was a nice offering, but I'm not sure the ladies were trained adequately. We were excited about the cafe for breakfast, but the fruit wasn't fresh and the eggs in the breakfast sandwiches tasted like they were pre-made and old. Offering fresher ingredients and a more palatable fare would really make a difference in this hotel.

Obviously the most important quality of a hotel is the beds and rooms, so I overlooked the other things that weren't as nice.

Really nice hotel. Modern and clean. Staff was helpful in recommendations for local attractions. Close to the outlet mall and not far from Interstate-20. Good service and food for breakfast. Close to Cracker Barrel restaurant.

Room Tip: Stayed on 4th floor, north side. Pretty good view and quiet.

This is my choice in staying in Vicksburg for business. I enjoyed the evening reception and the great full breakfast. The courtyard in back is really nice for relaxing. Access onto and off the interstate was very easy.

The décor was gorgeous and inviting, so I was incredibly excited to get to my room. Our suite wasn't available at check-in time, so we were sent to the nearby outlet mall until the room was ready. We arrived back in the lobby where the woman who sent us away watched us take seats in the lobby while waiting for our room to eventually open up. We sat, and sat some more. She left the hotel at the end of her shift and finally we were asked if we were waiting to check in. I explained that the person who had recently left told us that our room wasn't ready. The people now staffing the front desk were apologetic and we were offered a $20 coupon for breakfast and a 40 % off items at The Bistro coupon. Breakfast was good, but a bit high priced in my opinion--over $35 for 3 breakfast sandwiches, 2 juices, and a water.

Room Tip: The two room suites are very spacious but my son said the sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Ground f...

I spent five nights in Vicksburg and found this hotel to be surprisingly modern for the smaller city that Vicksburg is. The lobby was very modern with ample seating area for their bistro, single person privacy booths for phone calls, a larger TV watching area or for casual business meetings.

I didn't get a chance to eat at the Bistro due to my early schedule, but it has a reputation and others that I talked to said it was good.

Rooms were very stylishly decorated and had everything you need. Staff was friendly. A very good stay.

Maintains the standard of the Marriott but with super friendly helpful service. Nice indoor pool comfortable temperature. Convenient safe location. Outlet malls are right there. Try rusty's on the riverfront for dinner. Delicious.
