My family is originally from Vicksburg, but I get there very rarely (every 10-15 years). I had a chance last May, and thoroughly enjoyed it. To really experience Vicksburg, you need to stay at a place like Anchuca. It just doesn't add up if you're in a typical motel or hotel. Anchuca is the Old South, and all the Southern charm and hospitality that goes with it. The rooms just "feel" right, the food is terrific--don't miss that restaurant!--and Anchuca is just a couple of minutes away from another "don't miss," the Old Courthouse Museum. i wouldn't stay anywhere else. It's really a couples hotel, and small children might not fit into the romantic, laid back ambience.
