“Great hotel but a few concerns.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the 15th floor for a week in June with 2 friends. We had a city view and it was amazing. I loved staying in Honolulu. I thought the hotel was very nice and very much in the center of everything in Waikiki. My complaints are listed below: - I do not like the sheer bathroom door that separated the bedroom from the bathroom since I was traveling with friends and that was not appropriate. - Housekeeping do not know how to following signs; i had the "do not disturb" sign on the door but she barged in anyway. - There was no bedding for the pull out sofa bed. - Housekeeping did not throw out all garbage. I had obvious garbage in the room and she only threw out garbage that was in the pail. - I felt that security was lacking. There were no cameras on the floors or on elevators. I felt that anyone could walk in from the street and not get stopped. - Free wifi should be in the guest rooms too. Wifi is free only in lobby area. - The pool area was plain but was 6 feet at the deep end which was great. - Very comfortable bed but pillows were very flat in the morning. I do like Doubletree though and I would definitely still recommend that someone stay here. The staff were very friendly and followed up with all requests. Very good price at $169 per night.

Aloha Janice,

Thank you for your kind review! We appreciate you choosing to stay with us and look forward to your return visit. We are so glad you enjoyed our location and it's ideal proximity to world-class Waikiki Beach and exciting downtown Honolulu. You seem to have stayed in one of our rooms with a vanity and frosted window that shows shadow outlines - we have various formats with and without these windows. We reviewed your comments with our housekeeping team and reinforced our do not disturb policies. We sincerely apologize for these inconveniences!

In regards to our security - we feature 24 hour security with a highly skilled team. We have one main entrance that is in direct view of both our valet and front office agents. Our rear entrance is in view of our security office and also secured at night. We take security seriously and hope that you feel safer knowing all of this!

Thank you again for your recommendation!

Warmest Regards,
Sandy Narvaez

this is a great boutique hotel well situated across from the park. Very nice walk to to the waikiki beach and to the Ala Moana Mall. Hotel has excellent facilities for the price range. The hotel staff were very attentive and accommodating.

Very nice and friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay. Location was excellent. The mandatory parking and the cost per day was a little steep for my taste. They always had a hot cookie when I got back from work. The view from my balcony wasn't great but I didn't spend much time there. Did not eat at the restaurant, but the menu looked very good. It was walking distance to Waikiki and to Ala Moana if you didn't have a car.

Great location, within walking distance from the lovely beaches of Waikiki. We were upgraded to a ocean view suite on check-in. The suite was small, but it was lovely.. Every room had a balcony and we had a view of the ocean (with a little obstruction from other buildings)-very pleasant. The room was immaculate. The front desk staff was very friendly and helped us find our way around the Wailkiki area. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and was very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay for anyone

Nice hotel with great service. Rooms were very clean. On the down side, Valet parking is mandatory if you have a car, $30/night. Internet is $9.95/day unless you are a Gold/Platinum Hilton Honors member, I am only Silver, which got me two free bottles of water. Also, I would have preferred accommodations on the beach. Although, the walk is about 10 - 15 minutes or so, not too bad.

Aloha Ralph L,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate that you chose to stay at our property and enjoyed serving you. As part of our Doubletree by Hilton brand, we enjoy providing a level of service that is professional yet caring and warm. We are delighted that you are a Hhonors member as many other Hhonors members choose to stay with us as well! Parking is definitely at a premium here in Waikiki and we strive to be competitive amongst our comparable hotels.

The short walk to the beach and shops is definitely an advantage for those that want both the natural beauty of Hawaii and the exciting nightlife of the city...all in one spot.

Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you again soon!

Sandy Narvaez

While staying in Honolulu from May 20th-28th we stayed at the Doubletree. From first walking in you can see the renovations they have made. Wonderful service and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We had a small issue with the air conditioner temperature being turned up by the cleaning staff, but it was quickly handled and the staff made a point of leaving a message in our room to tell us it had been delt with. The pool is lacking compare to other hotels but was still enjoyable. The warm cookie upon arrival and the staffs willingness to dole our more to our boys when asked was a nice touch. The restaurant food was extremely good and althought they have delivery to your room from Roundtable I would recommend gettting a pizza from the reataurant downstairs. Way better tasting and the bartender will even call your room when its ready for pickup.

Aloha Shadara S,

Mahalo (thank you) for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed our renovations and our friendly and helpful staff. They are truly a joy to work with. As a 317-room property - we are not a huge resort - so we pride ourselves on those special, personalized touches that keep our guests coming back. We are so glad you enjoyed your pizza! Our bartenders are so friendly...we can always count on them to make all our guests feel special.

Please do visit us again soon...we look forward to welcoming you!

I stayed here during a work trip to Hawaii. The rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. The beach isn't too far away but its not right on the water and, at least from my room, you couldn't see the ocean at all. I was disappointed that there was no free breakfast and the buffet is pricey, but there are plenty of coffee shops nearby you can walk to. If you get hungry you can also pick up a free delicious chocolate chip cookie from the friendly staff at the front desk. All you have to do is ask!

Mahalo (thank you) again for your review and we hope to see you again soon!
