“First time in Hawaii”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We thought the hotel was very clean, easy to get to from the beach and the many shops on the main road. It only took us a few minutes to get to the street, cross it and be on the beach! There were many buses easy to get to as well. The room had an incredible Partial Ocean view that I could not stop enjoying. We were on the 22nd floor which also helped the view. The balcony was a wonderful place to drink coffee and look out at the ocean. This was the best part of the room! I did not hear any noise from other guests when we were there and no one bothered us at all. We walked through the restaurant that is part of the hotel and it looked very awesome. It has an ocean aquarium surrounding all the seating areas in the eating area. People were inside the tanks scuba diving also. We did not eat there, only because the times they served did not work with our schedule. The menu was a bit pricey, but it was a buffet of very interesting food, which makes me wish I had found the time to try it. I would go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Get at least a partial ocean view room, you will not regret it at all!!!!!!!!!

This was my second stay here. Most recently I spent the first leg of my honeymoon here. It is a very nice 3 star hotel. Don't stay here if you are looking for luxury. If you want a clean comfortable place to stay in the heart of Waikiki then this is a great choice. I did a package which included breakfast. Breakfast is buffet style and served in the dining room with a several story high aquarium.
I enjoyed breakfast every morning and watching the fish and rays in the tank. There is a good selection of food. This hotel also attracts a large number of Japanese tourists so in addition to traditional American fare there are several Asian selections. I didn’t eat any other meals here but heard good things from other tourist. I believe there is also a mermaid show in the tank a couple times a day.

The beach is across the street and many rooms have ocean and/or views of Diamond Head. Shops and endless dining options are within walking distance. Public transportation runs well in Honolulu (although I saw signs for schedule changes occurring through March). Buses run on the road behind the hotel. We did not rent a car on Oahu. Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay and Downtown Honolulu (including Aloha Tower and Chinatown) are all very accessible by bus. I also recommend the KCC farmers market on Saturdays.

Check in and out was speedy and painless. The only negative was the front desk staff/concierge desk staff were not as knowledgable as my last trip.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views but may have longer elevater wait time.

My husband and I have stayed here several times, but on our most recent stay, I was
Quite disappointed I. The different things that had happened causing our stay to be an
Uncomfortable one. First we checked in, and front desk clerk notified me that we will
Be charged $25 a day for parking. I confirmed over the phone with 2 different representatives
To make sure the parking was free as it was offered on one of the specials online. Front desk
Asked me to return at 7am next morning to talk to a mgr. Went in at about 730 or 8am mgr
Still not avail so took. 3rd visit to reconcile this problem. When we checked into our room
Which was an oceanview room #1702, room was very noisy and sounded like a generator
Was running constantly next door, I asked about the noise and front desk said there is something
Up ther maybe fans in between the rooms or something. I had a migraine, aggravated by the constant noise, we had unpacked, than repacked and asked for another room. Our request was honored, and went to another oceanview room. At this room, the room itself was ok, the view was great, but the shower, and bathroom sink, backed up a Bit. At about 3:30 in the pm although we had the privacy sign was out And we were resting, it seemed that someone was trying to enter our room and the room next door. Than awhile later the same through the connecting door. It was
Kinda scary for me, and I felt lucky that my husband was with me. This was reported to the front desk. Never felt this inconvenienced on any hotel stay before. In the past we had no problems here, and were even upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom on one of our previous stays. This
Stay was an exception and I hope it never happens again! Price to value was high for this stay as well.

Room Tip: Oceanviews are great! But stay away from room 1702 beach tower too noisy!

Hotel room was clean but walls are thin and could hear entire conversations through the walls. The spa is terrible, we booked a couple massage and was asked to look over their menu so we were then they took us back and didnt ask us if we wanted deep tissue or lomi lomi or anything so it was basically pointless. The spa atmosphere looked like a back room of a shack. The location of the hotel was good though. We ended up being charged an extra night and still are trying to get it back. The valet dropped the key to our car and broke it so our computerized key needs to be replaced which is about $100 min. I wouldn't waste time on valet at all.

Nice view, OLD everything, inconsistent cold water, EXPENSIVE buffet (48.95), caters mostly to Japanese and Chinese tourists who apparently don't know better or get inclusive rates. Location is great but that's about it. Price was high for the value.

Just returned from a 10 day stay here and can't recommend it enough. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to one of the Ocean Front Rooms and the view was unreal!! We were able to see all of Waikiki and the spacious balcony was a great spot to enjoy the sunset over the beach opposite the hotel!! Fridge in the room meant we could make cocktails and nibbles too!
Room itself was really spacious with a large bathroom and plenty of space to relax either on the balcony or in the chaise lounge. Super comfy bed as well. Nice touch was the helpfulness of the room attendants who regularly offered us extra towels if they saw us coming back from a morning swim and beach towels replenished daily as well.. saves having to pack them for the trip!!
We saw the daily mermaid show in the aquarium a few times over dinner which was a lot of fun, along with great food.. they certainly know how to cook fish there! We also had breakfast in the outside cafe, great way to start the day. When we did decide to head out to try something else the location was perfect as we were within a few blocks (or starlit beach walk!!) to a good number of other restaurants.
Waikiki beach itself was great, we were able to take surf lessons and there is a Hula show just across the street almost every other night... which was interesting and fun and also free!!
Concierge was really helpful in booking us to a Lauau and a Whale watching trip.. and also was great in providing us with local bus details so we could (instead of taking a tour) get ourselves to Hanauma Bay which was about 15-20 minutes away, Diamond Head was only 10 minutes away and also provided details of travel to Pearl Harbor and the North Shore. Appreciated the time he took listening to what and how we actually wanted to travel and providing us with easy to follow instructions.. we didn't get lost!! Sadly once it was time to leave we booked a taxi to the airport with the doormen, confirmed the price and when we arrived downstairs to leave he had got us a stretch limo for the same low price!!! He said he knew the company and thought we might like it, what a way to finish a wonderful stay!!

So all in all I we found this to be a beautiful, clean, safe hotel with attentive, helpful, cheerful staff and in a perfect location to enjoy all that Waikiki has to offer and easy access to the other highlights in Oahu.
We will be returning next year for certain.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for one of the Ocean Front Rooms

This hotel is located on a perfect strip of Waikiki Beach. The hotel itself is dated but clean. To access the beach you need to cross the road which is no hassle at all and it is lovely to sit on the balcony from the ocean front room and watch the ocean and the 'beach goers' at any time of day. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is great on seafood night!! Even though the place is looking tired it was a great, safe place for us to stay for 10 nights in November and we would stay there again.
