“In the heart of Waikiki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014 via mobile

Stayed for Easter break. Selected this hotel because of the awesome location in the heart of the action. You don't need a car. The hotel is BIG & the room was very basic but clean. Beds were just doubles but I'm sure for a bigger price a queen or king would have been avail. The pools were awesome & staff were courteous.

Best thing about this hotel is its location, right in the middle of waikiki's busy shopping area, and easy access to a nice part of the beach. It also features a water slide that is the main attraction for the kids (it's short, not comparable to what you see in a waterpark, but fun for the kids nevertheless!). The occeanfront room had a very nice view. The service from most staff were mediocre, we got there during the Spring Break and they seem to be undrestaffed. Sheraton is charging top prices, but not employing enough staff to provide a great service, so remember you're paying for the location not the service. They charge a lot for everything such as $12 for drinks with a couple of drops of alcohol! Also they charge a resort fee of $31 per night, which is basically for wifi+parking+1 bottle of water per night! It does not even cover the kids programs, or pool toys! You have to pay extra for everything. Next time we will stay somewhere else.

We have just had a 4 night stay in a "City View" room with 2 double beds. We really enjoyed our stay!

We were on a bit of a budget, but got a good rate for the room. We didn't expect to see any ocean in this room, but were pleasantly surprised that did actually have a partial view of the ocean - it was nice when sitting on the bed being able to see the sea :-)

The room was standard and as expected. I was worried the bed was going to be too bouncy and soft after we first sat down on it, but I was surprised how comfortable we found it and how well we slept each night. I was happy to have a bath in the bathroom - and not a dodgy, shallow one.

The location of the hotel is great - it's right on the water, but out the back of the hotel you are almost right there on the main street. Cheesecake Factory is a 4 minute walk.

The mandatory resort fee (about $31/day) includes (free) wifi, parking, some activities and one complimentary Malahini Cocktail per guest per stay, so if you happen to have a car, it is quite a reasonable fee.

The hotel lobby gets very busy. I don't think I've every experienced such a busy lobby before. There are 12 elevators, so you never have to long to catch a lift.

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying here again... if we could get a room for a good price. We didn't use the pools and didn't have an ocean-front room, so we might have been just as happy at the Holiday Inn above Macy's or similar. But if you want to be right on the ocean and still in the centre of things, this hotel is a very good choice.

Stayed in an oceanfront room with balcony for part of our honeymoon. The room was standard, but the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed watching everything from our balcony. Kids running up and down the hallway drove us crazy. It is a noisy hotel. The service was mediocre, Front desk was great, but housekeeper put a wet, used glass on our clean bar set up (random) and they were very slow bringing extra towels, soap etc. Kai market was great for breakfast. Rum Fire was awful. The service was bad & they served me raw fish in fish tacos. Manger redeemed herself with comping alcohol which was nice. Their menu isn't very impressive, very random bar type food. The one thing this hotel is lacking is a good dinner spot. But of course there are so many great places to eat in waikiki so we were happy! Convience store in the lobby was great and not expensive! We bought our own water, snacks etc. All in all I would stay here again because I felt like it was a good value.

Room Tip: Choose a high oceanfront. We faced the strip & beach and it was quite noisy from the pool, but f...

Aloha and mahalo for your recent review of our resort. We are very happy you enjoyed your honeymoon stay with us. While we are happy you enjoyed your view and bed we are concerned about the issues you experienced with housekeeping and at RumFire so we have shared your feedback with their managers. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. A hui hou.

I had an extended stay here, and experienced some frustrating issues connecting to the hotel wireless and difficulty getting anyone to help me. A call routed to the contractor for the wireless service resulted in identification of the problem - the router on my floor - but no solution after 24 hours. So, I complained to the manager on duty, and she mobilized someone to check out and fix the problem, a power supply that led to dropped internet connections every few minutes.
That it took several days to get the problem resolved is not good. But, the hotel deserves kudoes for responding once the complaint was elevated.
The location is great, but it is a busy place. This is not a quiet getaway but it has wonderful views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Nighttime activity at the bar can be noisy if you are on the Diamond Head side and suffering jet lag that makes you grumpy and unable to adjust your sleep pattern. If you need quiet, forego the view and ask for a room on the other wing.

This is our fourth stay at this hotel. The first was the week of our wedding, the second after our honeymoon cruise and the third on our second anniversary were all spent at The Sheraton Waikiki.

We really thought this place was special. So special we wanted to come back for our 6th wedding anniversary. Well, what a mistake! As my husband said, there is no aloha here, it's been sucked out of the place. The front desk staff was rude and we had a very unpleasant experience checking in (after a long flight, no less). I went down to speak to the manager the next morning and he was just as rude, if not worse. The room is just OK. There were hairs on the bathroom ceiling and toothpaste on the counter. There was no mention of our anniversary at check in and our request for a private balcony/high floor room was not fulfilled until I asked about a private balcony to which the front desk staff said they were full but she would see what she could do. We did the private balcony and we are thankful for that but everything else has lacked customer service in the biggest way (the bell staff was friendly). We are still here trying to enjoy our first ever child free getaway but we are very, very disappointed. :(

The hotel is nice. Has a little cafe great for people watching while sipping on a cup of joe. Our room was facing the ocean. Nice breeze. The service was decent. Great location walking distance to everywhere, very convenient!
