“Great for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Booked this hotel for a college graduation trip. Didn't want to spend too much, but still wanted to be near the beach. The hotel was only a block away, and it is on the road next to Kapiolani Park and the zoo, great location. We walked just about everywhere. Used the bus to get to Safeway for some groceries, and to Diamondhead for a hike. The bus stop is right next to the hotel. We were on the 8th floor, city view. Room was not quiet, but wasn't unbearable either. Great for the price we paid!

Room Tip: Diamondhead View rooms are probably quieter.

Very nice hotel with beautiful views---we had a corner room so had full view of Diamond Head and also the beach. The staff and parking guys are friendly and efficient. Have stayed here before so chose it again being at the end of Waikiki where traffic and crowds are not as bad, even though other hotels offered lower rates.

Room Tip: We had a room on a high level---lower street noise + gorgeous view.

We stayed at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel for 10 nights. We had two rooms and were upgraded on both. We had a diamond head view and oceanview and were upgraded to an oceanview and junior suite. The oceanview was a nice view but a little cramped in space. The junior suite was great! Had a small kitchen with sink, microwave, fridge, plates and utensils. We had a view of diamond head and the ocean. It is a little noisy and windy due to the type of shudder windows but was kind of nice listening to the wind at night. Walk to beach was a couple of minutes. We did have a car and parked it on the street next to the zoo. There is also a great sandwich shop just down the street called Tucker and Bevvy. Food was excellent. Also, Teddys burgers had a good breakfast. Did not have any issues and had a great time. Wifi was good. Only downside was the washer/dryer area. It was in the basement and had one washer and two dryers. We ended up going to a laundromat. Would definitely stay again.

The 1st day in the hotel we spent in a horror room 203 - its just above the back entrance so you'll hear everyone smocking or chatting there. This room was not renovated and had a horrible sprinkler tube hanging in the middle of the room - DONT SETTLE FOR ANY ROOM BELOW 5th FLOOR - they are old, bad, and noise is too strong.

From our 2nd day we requested a room change (same category, but a higher floor) - THAT was an excellent idea, we received a corner room with great city/mountain view, large windows, freshly renovated. Staff cleaned rooms well but did so quite late - around 3pm normally WiFi worked perfectly Location is great - very close to the beach and main street but a bit away from crowds. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR A ROOM 5+ FLOOR

WiFi worked perfectly

Rooms were cleaned well, thought quite late - normally around 3 pm

Sleep quality is average: street traffic noise is very STRONG, so if you want to sleep with open windows and enjoy tropical breeze be prepared to 'enjoy' bus/car noises as well

Room Tip: Ask for at least 6th floor

I chose the Queen Kapiolani because it had excellent rates and was located near Waikiki Beach and was across from the Honolulu Zoo. I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice hotel it is. We got there before check-in so we had to leave our luggage with the bellman. He was so friendly and helpful and took very good care of us by arranging for a cab to the airport the next day. The Wifi in the hotel was very good but we had some trouble printing our Boarding Passes. First, you had to pay and then the connection was super slow. After trying for 45 minutes we appealed to the desk clerk who took sympathy on us and printed them at her terminal.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable and I would stay there again.

My parents and I stayed here recently during a visit to Oahu. We absolutely loved our stay. We were up on the top floor so the views of Diamond Head from our room were breathtaking. We overlooked the Honolulu Zoo which is right next door, and could see elephants from our room!! The staff are very friendly and we were really impressed with the onsite restaurant. We ate there a couple of times. On Friday night they have live Hawaiian music which, with the beautiful backdrop, made for one of our favourite nights of the trip. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Only a short walk into the busy centre of Waikiki, but the beach directly across the road is great too. Not one negative to say about this hotel, wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: High floors facing Diamond Head are worth the extra!

This was a business trip for me to Honolulu. This has been the worst experience I've had to date. Staff is nice but the property is old and aging and everything seems to break. One of the Elevators keeps going out of order, when I went to use the laundry room (I;m here for 2 weeks), that was out of order and now today I wake up to no water.
I called and they told me all the top floors have no water and if you want to go to the bathroom you have to come to the lobby!! You cant even take a shower in your room. They told me some rooms downstairs have water so I could shower down there. OMG are you serious. I am now looking for new hotel. What a hassle and what a disaster of a hotel.

Room Tip: dont book this hotel
