“It was close to the beach.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

No luxury, exactly. It had comfortable enough beds, kitchenette with the fridge. We bought groceries, since Hawaii is so expensive. Breakfast on the balcony was great. The proximity to the beach was the most important thing. I love walking around Waikiki. If you know you only will be in the room to sleep and use the bathroom, then it is perfect. As far as I know it is currently closed for innovation.

Location wise it's perfect. They were refurbishing the hotel on the day we left which is good as it is very dated inside and does need to be updated. The downside was the lifts were very slow and on the outside of the building & open to the elements. Saying that it has everything you could want...kitchen area and very large bathroom and decks. Once this reno has been completed this hotel will definitely be a 5 star. The value for money is very good as it is 2 mins away from the main shopping area.

Room Tip: Go for a room that looks over the road as this is the sunny side.

my boyfriend and I have stayed here three times now over the past 4 years. It was a bit dated, but it was clean, affordable, convenient, and the staff was great. Our fire alarm malfunctioned one evening at 3am, and they had someone to fix it within 20 minutes. That night was free on our tab. Will call you a cab, answer any questions. Super sad to see this hotel get torn down for another high end expensive accommodation setting. Waikiki is definitely not what it used to be. No more international market either. Going to try out the other ohanas. Close to the same area and hope they have the same kind of service. Thanks for a great few years!

Stayed here for two nights while in transit to Guam. Very handy location to the shops on Waikiki, beach and good restaurants around Waikiki. During check-in I was very disappointed with the room given to me, (right on the top floor, with barely enough space to move around). I made this known to the staff and was immediately relocated to another room on the lower floor which was spacey. Initially had internet issues (broadband, as WIFI is only available in the lobby), but managed to fix by resetting the modem a number of times. Informed this to the front desk, and they had a technician up in about 15 mins to help with this issue. Overall tidy rooms, clean and good selection of TV channels etc, walking distances to most places and helpful staff. Has a pool and poolside bar and towels available to use at the beach, and free ride on the pink trolley line to Ala Moana shopping center.

Room Tip: Rooms in lower levels are larger

Sadly, the Ohana Waikiki West is closing its doors at the end of this week. I'm afraid this was the last of the "budget hotels" in Waikiki--it was a great location, and we were fortunate enough to be there for the final few days of the International Marketplace across the street. I suspect the landscape will look VERY different by the next time we get to visit. To all the helpful and friendly staff we had the pleasure of intereacting with during our stay--Mahalo, and we wish you well!!

We stayed here for a week in March, 2 adults and 2 kids. The first impressions of the hotel were not very good, looked very dated, and across the road of a major building site. On arrival to hotel, I went inside to see if I can get a bag trolley to get my bags in only to be told, we don't give them you have to use a bell boy (and tip them of course). OK, no problem but not a great first impression of the services at the hotel. It all changed at the reception though, very friendly and informative. Lifts are very slow, rooms and bedrooms dated but clean. Beds are comfortable, we got the room away from the building site, so it was reasonably quiet too. Location of the hotel is great though, 5 minutes walk to Waikiki, supermarket across the street, plenty of eating options nearby.

Room Tip: any rooms not facing Kuhio avenue

Another end of an era. The days of old Waikiki are slowly coming to an end. I've stayed here for years. I'll always remember the nice views of the International Market Place and the challenging parking lot. Thanks for all the great service, and memories Ohana West.
