“Great Hotel!! Awesome value!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2009

This hotel was super nice. Rooms are spacious and spotless with newly renovated modern decor. The pool area was nice especially with the semi private location of the two hot tubs. Man the elevators were fast!! The desk people were ok, but the bell staff and valet guys were awesome!! They still were remodeling some of the hotel grounds when we were there, but that might be finished by now. However the remodeling didn't affect our stay. Great location, within walking distance to everything. The hotel is located on the one end of Waikiki, in the middle of everything, but away from the big crowds. Beach Walk is so close and we recommend the Yard House restaurant for great food and atmosphere and getting cookies instead of Mac nuts as souvenirs from the Hawaiian Cookie Company. The Shorebird restaurant in the hotel was good for drinks but that's about it. The food was not very good. The Ocean House restaurant however, was great. We suggest the Coconut Lobster Skewers and the seafood pasta. We highly recommend the Sunset Cruise located on the beach in front of the hotel from the Outrigger Catamaran. $40 for cruise and ALL YOU CAN DRINK!!! Sweet deal!! The crew was awesome too. You can book activities from a Kiosk on the beach and rent chairs and umbrellas for lounging the day away. We also recommend renting a convertable mini cooper from Little Hawaii Rentals for a day trip to Kailua/Lanikai or the North Shore. Sweet little cars! We will definately stay at this hotel when we visit Waikiki again.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Hawaii. We spent the first part of our trip staying in Oahu and the second part of our trip in Maui. Before the trip, we both thought that our stay in Oahu was going to be just "average" and we were going to be upgrading when we got to Maui (we stayed at the Westin in Lahaina for reference). The Reef really surprised us...in a good way!!

This hotel is very clean and airy. Our room was huge. The bed was very comfortable. It does a have a fridge which is available for use and good to store your items from the local ABC stores. (Yes, there is one on every corner). We didn't have much of a view (but we didn't pay for one either). The bathroom was extremely big and very clean. They do have wired internet in the rooms and provide you with an Ethernet cable so you don't have to worry about packing one. There really is nothing I can complain about in regards to the room. A++

The hotel itself seemed like a great value to us. The pool was slightly small for the hotel size but it seems like a lot of people choose to do the beach option. Because it was not crowded, and they do have a ton of chairs around the pool. It is right on Waikiki beach and the beach was crowded...very crowded. I don't blame the hotel for this. It is just the way Waikiki is. Shopping is just one block away and there are tons of local restaurants within walking distance. (Do stop by House without a Key next door, it is a really nice local spot.) If you want a quick breakfast, eat at the Starbucks in the hotel. They have a breakfast sandwich/coffee pairing for $5. It is a deal when you compare it to the standard Hawaii prices. I can't really comment on the other restaurants in the hotel. We never ate at them. There were just too many other options around.

I would not hesitate to stay here again. This is by far the best value for your money in Waikiki. You get to stay in the middle of everything and you are right on the ocean. What could be better?

Visited Waikiki on one leg of our usa tour in August.I picked this hotel after reading all of the great reviews on TA.What more can I add to them ,the hotel was first class in every department.
Rooms -lovely,clean,comfortable-everything felt brand new.
Pool- small but still very nice.
Restaurants-Only ate at the Shorebird for breakfast which was excellent-get your half price voucher from the Honalulu Advertiser free newspaper.
Location-Right on Waikiki beach perfect for walking into main shopping areas.
Staff-Everyone we had contact with at the hotel were lovely people from the house-keeping maid to the front desk-superb.
10 out of 10 for me!

My family and I stayed in Outrigger Reef Waikiki for 5 days. We enjoyed their food, partial view to the ocean and also view of neighboring hotels. Our room was spacious, we has clean sheets everyday and we had a comfortable and relaxing stay in the hotel. We can also hear hawaaian music every night - it doesn't bother us because we are always tired from our whole day activity. The place was close access to the beach. We tried all the neighboring restaurant around the area and highly recommend Roy's restaurant- $$$ but quality food. I am going to stay at the same hotel if given another chance to see Waikiki again.

Room is long rectangular shape, with a very nice king bed, large flat screen Tv & foldout sofa lounge. There is a small outdoor setting on the very narrow balcony & a work desk with 2 chairs. Bathroom is good BUT i HATE showers in baths - so for us it was a big negative!
The staff are fantastic & they really made the stay easy & enjoyable.
Location is great, bars etc are very good, food was great.
Saw wild turtles at the beach at the front of outrigger!

I don't really have any faults as such.
You pay for the location.

Stayed at this hotel before boarding a cruise. Was pleasantly surprised. Rooms very clean. Staff very polite and helpful. Views from rooms also nice. Breakfast that was included was excellent. Location was great. Right in the center of Waikiki. Could walk to everything. Traveled with two teenage daughters who were very happy here. Pool a little deep if you are traveling with young children or non -swimmers. But pool area very nice and could always get a chair. Beach in Waikiki very eroded but the Outrigger has more beach front than most. Would definitely go back!

We just recently stayed 7 nights at the Outrigger. This is our second time to Hawaii, but our first at the Outrigger. My husband and I loved it! We had a moderate room, but looking to our left we had a great view of the ocean. The room was extremly clean and very large. We were also told we wouldn't have a balcony because we booked a moderate room, but we somehow got one. The only complaint I have about our room was that room service wouldn't come sometimes until 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

The beach is very narrow and crowded. We would try to go early, but it was still difficult to find a place. It wasn't very private. Make sure you bring water shoes because its very rocky. There is also a great pier outside the hotel. Tons of crabs and it's great to go out on for sunset.

The restraunts at the Outrigger were great. We tried all three, but the shorebird was our favorite. There is 50% off coupons in coupon books throughout the hotel. The shorebird for dinner you grill your own food and we loved it. The salad bar was excellent. We were able to eat on the beach for very cheap there.

The pool was great! A little crowded, but excellent. They have 3 hottubs and we never had a problem with them being over crowded. Another great feature was they had water available throughout the hotel and that was great for the pool.

The hotel is very close to all the activities and only a couple minute walk to just about everything. We also recommend the Germaines Luau. One of the cheapest, but very very nice. We also took the city bus to Diamond head and climbed to the top. The view is worth it, but make sure you like to hike or you will be misserable. We were able to do that for about 12 dollars. Its about four dollars round trip per person and a dollar to get into diamond head. This is the cheapest way to go. Make sure you go outside of Waikiki and explore. We would definetly go back to this hotel and recommend this hotel to everyone. I'm already ready to back and stay at the Outrigger:)
