“We had the best time and can't wait to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile

I did a bit of research before choosing Outrigger Reef. I wanted a hotel on Waikiki Beach without going bankrupt. I'm so glad I chose this place. I booked directly through their website for the best rate. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had the city view and enjoyed people watching from the balcony. The location was really convenient. There were plenty of stores and restaurants in walking distance. The pool was nice and the beach right out the back door was amazing. The valet is expensive and I researched other parking options but convenience won and we parked there every night. Our favorite place to dine was the kana ka pila grille. The food was good and it was super laid back. We will definitely stay here again whenever we're lucky enough to return to the island.

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful hotel last year and would highly recommend it to everyone. The rooms were spacious and clean - staff very helpful at all times - the restaurants in the hotel were fantastic and the food delicious and a good variety. Did a lot of shopping in the hotel shops as well and felt they were of great value. The pool was clean and you could swim, even with lots of people there, never fought for a deck chair. If you chose, you could go to the beach instead and that was only a few steps away from the hotel itself. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and my family and I plan to return in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise, although can still be heard but not detrimental to sleep.

We always stay here for 5 days every couple of years. I reserve the beach front room, lower floors and get the breakfast package. Beach front room gets me the sunrises, sunsets, people watching from balcony while having morning coffee. Just spectacular views of ocean, beaches, diamond head, great beachfront room. Hotel has a restaurants, car rental, shopping, pretty much everything you need. All of Waikiki is easy walking distance, and all of the shopping and dining choices are very easy to walk to. Very much in the heart of the beach life and just enjoy it all. Hotel staff are great and you won't be disappointed with any of the Hotel operation. I would rate this hotel as a lower 4 star. A little worn but acceptable. Very good ---enjoy!!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for the ocean front rooms.

This was our third stay in one of the ocean front suites - on both previous occasions we had been absolutely wowed by the place - not so much this time. We wondered if there had been a change in management as the place just seemed so different and staff generally did not appear to be as eager to please. The maids who serviced our room were great and did a good job but throughout the hotel there seemed to be a bit of lackadaisical air.
We were hugely disappointed to find that the business centre was closed as I had been relying on this to manage accounts back home. When we're on holiday we don't take our laptops as we rely on being able to use facilities in the hotel. We are, after all, on holiday. When I first discovered that the business centre had disappeared I spoke to a male member of staff who was really quite dismissive and said he didn't have a clue what I could do about needing to get online - there was somewhere I could walk to that would take about 15 minutes, but he wasn't sure where that was. We then had a worrying night trying to work out what to do. In the morning I spoke to another member of staff about the same issue and he directed us to the Business Centre at The Sheraton - they were brilliant - really lovely and helpful staff. Maybe we'll stay there next time.
The other big let down was arriving at the Bar Grill at 2145 after a lovely day out and being told we could not order a drink - they close at 2200. The staff seemed a little too intent on spending time with their mates than dealing with customers. Not been treated like that at this hotel before. Loved our suite and the fabulous balconies as well as being so close to the sound of the surf, but I think we'll be seeking something similar elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms are pretty nice especially at the beach front of the hotel - but you pay a good price for thes...

We recently spent 9 nights at the Outrigger Reef Hotel in Hawaii Waikiki. This was our 4th time in Hawaii and 4th hotel so I think we now have a good handle on what you should expect from a quality hotel here.
The hotel check in firstly was fantastic and our 1 bedroom city view room was upgraded to the 1 bedroom city view Penthouse. Perfect as we had 360 degree views from the top of the building. I will say though, dont worry too much about the view, you dont spend enough time in your room to warrant spending another $1000 on a view you wont notice....if you are in your room then you are not doing enough with your holiday!
We had our 8 month old with us and the room was perfect, plenty of room to move around, we could put him to sleep in the portable cot (on wheels) supllied by the hotel for free. Two TV's, fridge, microwave and they were only too happy to send us up an electric kettle, wine glasses, plates etc.
Pool area also was great with a resort style feel to it, pool side service for drinks and 3 hot spas located next to the pool.
Drink prices were reasonable and Happy Hour even better when beers were just $3.50 a pint and Mai Tai's $4.
The hotel has 3 restraunts - Pool Bar was good for finger food or a burger through the day. We also tried the Bfast here one morning, it was ok for $7 but not great. The Buffet in the ShoreBird Restraunt was also just ok for $16 each and the A-La Cart restraunt cost us $50! a couple for breakfast and highly over rated.
Best Value Breakfast - Walk across the road to Dennys. I could not have imagined that $8 can get you a coffee, juice, toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, and 2 pancakes! We went back to Dennys several times and just shared this as it is way too much for one person unless you are on a mission to bulk up!
We were in Hawaii for Thanksgiving un beknown to us as Aussies dont do Thanksgiving however the Christmas spirit was alive and well and the hotel had the tree up and decorations out - looked great. Even did the turkey dinner for thanksgiving...was not bad but IHOP was one of the only places open and probably not the place to do this..it was basic!
Anyway back to the hotel, also was handy to have a Starbucks at the front of the hotel where a Bagel and Coffee is always a good Breakfast.
Walking through the hotel you can see it is well maintained and people care about their jobs and the apperance of the hotel. The lobby shops were expensive and be aware, stay away from the Wyndham people tring to get you to sit through a 2 hour presentation where at the end they try to get you to buy. If you want to waste 2 hours of your holiday go sit in a bar somewhere! Lastly the beach at the front of the hotel is great though the guys renting umbrellas have got to be joking - $20 for an hour is crazy. $5 maybe but $20 is just mental!
Anyway, this end of Waikiki has more restraunts and is closer to shopping. Definately the end of town I will be going back to next time and will be staying at this hotel again. Perfect position, great rooms, great service, great hotel.

Room Tip: Dont waste your money on Ocean View, go the city view. The InLaws had a City View on L15 and they lo...

Excellent -- Beachfront, good entertainment/eating/atmosphere on ground level, comfortable bed, good-sized room, family-friendly
So-so -- free (slow) wifi, $35/day valet parking, ocean directly behind hotel shallow for swimming, staff not as professional or happy-looking as some other hotels
Not so great -- limited room amenities (eg no tissues, bottled water), key card didn't work in one elevator, noisy ("city view") room, housekeeping moved our clothes from bed to floor

Room Tip: If you want quieter, do not stay in "City view" room

Aloha Shaowei, Thank your for mentioning our prime location and other great attributes of our resort! Our number one priority though is to ensure our staff shares our warm hospitality with all our guests. A great property! We vacationed as a couple hoping to get some peace and quiet. Our room was quiet as we stayed on the top floor with an ocean view. That was the only thing that was quiet!! I would say this was more a family destination... It had family restrooms in the main lobby and each restuarant was quick to offer up high chairs. We found that surprising. The pool area was quite small--as is the pool itself. It is very DEEP--the shallow end was SMALL. The hot tub connected to the pool was always a zoo, but we did appreciate the two adults-only hot tubs nearby (although, mostly filled with kids....). The bar/restaurant area located near the pool was great--we LOVED the Happy Hour specials (great prices, great options, great drinks, loved all the tvs) and spent almost every afternoon of our stay in there. Pool service was nice too. The beach area was disappointing but we were warned that the famous Waikiki Beach would be small--and it is. Just remember your reef shoes if you plan to walk on the beach or the pier--can't really do it barefoot! We didn't really love the restaurants inside the hotel property so we took advantage of the location and walked to places to eat. It's so great that everything is within walking distance. There are laundry facilities on site and I wish we would have taken advantage of the laundry facilities before moving on to our next location. And yes, there is a Starbucks--no worries! Overall, we had a a great time and would return here. Just wish it would have been more quiet in regards to the pool area. But, now we know for next time.

Room Tip: The higher up your room is, the quieter it will be.
