I was a bit nervous about coming here, knowing there were renovations going on, and was thinking of changing my reservation to its better known sister property, the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. I am sure glad I stayed at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach ...it was EXCEPTIONAL. We were greeted with an orchid-scented cool towel and were seated to check in. We received Four Seasons-type service during our entire stay.

We had a beautiful new Oceanfront room in the Ocean Tower and we could literally hop off the balcony and onto the sand and go for a swim and the price was half that of the overrated Halekulani next door!

Usually I am leery of hotel bathrooms, but it was spotless...the housekeeper did not use a dirty mop, she was literally on her hands and knees scrubbing the floors with clean towels. To a germaphobe like me, that was a wow factor!

The breakfast buffet in the Shorebird restaurant was great and a really good value at $12.95. The pool is newly renovated, and although a bit small, there were plenty of lounge chairs and ice water to go around. Who wants to be at the pool when you are literally on the beach? The poolside bar is almost complete and looks like it is going to be awesome!

Waikiki Beach Walk is right across the street, there is a bus stop close by to take you to Diamond Head and all over Waikiki Beach, cab rides down to Duke's were around $4 ....it was great to be close to everything but away from the 4th of July craziness going on down at the Waikiki on the Beach.

I cannot commend the staff enough, truly Four Seasons service. I lost my cell phone on the bus to Diamond Head and called the front desk because it was a Sunday and could not get ahold of anyone at the Bus Co. The front desk made all the calls for me - above and beyond the call of duty! The Outrigger Reef on the Beach is a beautiful little jewel and I can't wait to go back and see the final renovations!

  • Liked — The beautiful 5-star accomodations at a very reasonable price
  • Disliked — a little noisy in the room from the doors slamming or the orange kayak banging against the wall in front of the OceanHouse all night, but nothing else to complain about

Aloha All,
I had the distinct pleasure of going to this property on my honeymoon and was absolutely derailed by the customer service i received, immediately at check in i was greeted by a Lemon scented moist towel and a glass of lemonade. The Bellman escorted us to our room and gave us a first class tour of the room and showed us how to work everything.
We had breakfast at The ShoreBird Restaurant and it was absolutely subherb, any kind of hot breakfast food imaginable was at our delite.
They had a great activities desk to help us plan out all of our activities for the week.
Finally a vacation that i didn't need a vacation from!!!

This hotel and the transformation it has undergone is amazing. We stayed here in 2004 so were fortunate enough to see the before and after of the renovations. We arrived on an early flight from Australia and were greeted with warm smiles, a cool refreshing face towel AND a room that was ready hours before the scheduled check in time. We were personally escorted to our room and given a thorough run down of the new features that include free wireless internet and complimentary local and US Mainland calls. The room was gorgeous, it was modern but still had that Hawaiian theme you desire when staying here.

Unfortunately we were unlucky enough to have been given a room right next door to, and directly opposite a very rowdy bunch of teenage boys. To say they were unbearable would be an understatement and on the 2nd night at 11:30 we hit breaking point and requested if at all possible to switch rooms. Within 10 minutes a porter was assisting us to relocate. Not only were we moved but we were given an upgrade to an oceanfront room for the remainder of our stay. We were so grateful, and cannot thank the staff enough for their hospitality understanding and assistance.

Shorebird Restaurant is a must to visit. To have a meal right on the beach with a view of Diamond Head is something that cannot be missed. It is also the perfect place to end the day with a cocktail watching the gorgeous sunset. The pool area is wonderful with 3 hot tubs and a great sized pool, and the complimentary mint and lemon water to cool you down was also a nice touch.
The Resort is located close enough to be able to walk to the main hub of Waikiki but far enough away to avoid the crowd if desired.

We cannot rate this resort highly enough and although we stayed during the renovations it didn’t affect our stay at all so don’t let them put you off. Besides you can currently take advantage of some great discounted accommodation as a result. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked our return trip for next year.

This hotel had one one the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed in. Go to their website and look at the phoots and it really does look like that. We were greeting at the curb where the bellman took our bags for us. We were then escorted to the front desk where they handed us cool towels, leis and a flower to wear in my hair. Then someone personally walked us to our room and showed us all of the features and amenities as well as gave us dining advice for that evening. When he was done with that he brought all of our bags into the room for us.
The bed was large and comfortable and all of the furnishings were modern, yet still maintained that "hawaiin atmosphere". Our balcony looked out into the courtyard with the pool below and to the right was the beach with a great view of the Pacific.
This hotel was still undergoing renovations while we were there but it did not hinder or disturb us in any way. Beach access is right on the property and they provide fresh water showers to rinse the sand off. Great location, beautiful room, outstanding customer service.

The whole experience at this hotel was awesome for our whole family. I was a little concerned when I found out the hotel was under renovation. As soon as we arrived, those concens were put to rest. The renovations did not effect our comfort or enjoyment at all. The staff was extremely helpful answering all of our questions and in giving very simple and accurate directions to all of the attractions on the Island. Our room and especially the beds, were very comfortable. Wonderful big closet that we also used as a dressing room. The room as neat as a pin when we returned each day. Just a few steps and we were on the beach. The two restraunts in the hotel were excellent. Our daughters, ages 9 and 16, enjoyed the large pool when we were not on the beach. Security was not a concern since the elevator would not operate without a room key. A safe in the room kept our valuables locked up when we were on the beach. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about the Outrigger Reef. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
