This hotel and the transformation it has undergone is amazing. We stayed here in 2004 so were fortunate enough to see the before and after of the renovations. We arrived on an early flight from Australia and were greeted with warm smiles, a cool refreshing face towel AND a room that was ready hours before the scheduled check in time. We were personally escorted to our room and given a thorough run down of the new features that include free wireless internet and complimentary local and US Mainland calls. The room was gorgeous, it was modern but still had that Hawaiian theme you desire when staying here.
Unfortunately we were unlucky enough to have been given a room right next door to, and directly opposite a very rowdy bunch of teenage boys. To say they were unbearable would be an understatement and on the 2nd night at 11:30 we hit breaking point and requested if at all possible to switch rooms. Within 10 minutes a porter was assisting us to relocate. Not only were we moved but we were given an upgrade to an oceanfront room for the remainder of our stay. We were so grateful, and cannot thank the staff enough for their hospitality understanding and assistance.
Shorebird Restaurant is a must to visit. To have a meal right on the beach with a view of Diamond Head is something that cannot be missed. It is also the perfect place to end the day with a cocktail watching the gorgeous sunset. The pool area is wonderful with 3 hot tubs and a great sized pool, and the complimentary mint and lemon water to cool you down was also a nice touch.
The Resort is located close enough to be able to walk to the main hub of Waikiki but far enough away to avoid the crowd if desired.
We cannot rate this resort highly enough and although we stayed during the renovations it didn’t affect our stay at all so don’t let them put you off. Besides you can currently take advantage of some great discounted accommodation as a result. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked our return trip for next year.
