The whole experience at this hotel was awesome for our whole family. I was a little concerned when I found out the hotel was under renovation. As soon as we arrived, those concens were put to rest. The renovations did not effect our comfort or enjoyment at all. The staff was extremely helpful answering all of our questions and in giving very simple and accurate directions to all of the attractions on the Island. Our room and especially the beds, were very comfortable. Wonderful big closet that we also used as a dressing room. The room as neat as a pin when we returned each day. Just a few steps and we were on the beach. The two restraunts in the hotel were excellent. Our daughters, ages 9 and 16, enjoyed the large pool when we were not on the beach. Security was not a concern since the elevator would not operate without a room key. A safe in the room kept our valuables locked up when we were on the beach. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about the Outrigger Reef. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

OUTRIGGER REEF ON THE BEACH

What a great stay! We loved this hotel. The location is ideal at the west end of Waikiki beach. The hotel is right on the beach and across the street from Beach Walk. We had a partial ocean view category room 809. The view of Diamond Head was gorgeous. We were across from the elevators, but there was little noise. We were also across from the drink machines and ice maker.

The lobby and pool area have been recently renovated and were very nice. All of the Ocean Tower rooms have been renovated. The décor is upscale island. We had a huge lanai with doors that opened all the way across. There was a small table and two small chairs on the balcony. The room had a separate sitting area with a desk and small couch. It was very roomy.

I liked the bed but my husband thought it was too soft. Wish it was king size. Good pillows, sheets and comforters. The shower had great pressure with an adjustable shower head that was removable. The room temperature was easy to control.

We didn’t visit the bar or two restaurants, but they seemed to be hopping. The bar overlooks the beach and they had music/entertainment/karaoke there nightly. Fitness room, coin laundry and same-day laundry service available. Starbucks on site.

One of the best features is the friendliness of the staff. Their customer service was exceptional from the moment we stepped off the shuttle until the moment we left. You couldn’t ask for more. It was the best we have experienced.

Another plus was the Hertz office on site. We rented a car in the morning and returned it later that evening. You can return it after hours to the valet. It was very convenient and we got a great price through our travel agent. Plus we didn’t have to pay to park.

The pool area was beautiful. There was a towel stand beside the pool. The chairs were comfy but got a little hot in the sun. The pool is deep – 9 foot at one end and 5 foot at the other. There is also a hot tub.

Other features we really enjoyed:
Mini fridge
In room coffee
Turn down service with delicious chocolate covered fruits/nuts.
Flat panel TV
Safe
FREE INTERNET – This was much appreciated!
The nightlights on the light switches- easy to find in the dark.
Cool towel on arrival

What would I change? Have beach chairs and umbrellas available for customer use. And have containers available to recycle bottles and cans. $25 per night to park seems a little excessive. But parking is scarce in Waikiki so maybe that’s why it is so expensive.

They are still renovating the other guest tower, the front entrance and the pool bar. Maybe as a result, the hotel seemed pretty empty. The renovations didn’t affect us at all. I would say it is an excellent time to visit while the renovations are taking place because you can get a great room at a great price.

I would highly recommend this property to all types of travelers. It is great for honeymooners, families, singles, business travelers, etc. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t like the Outrigger Reef on the Beach.

I brought my 13 year granddaughter to Hawaii for a week as a special one on one time together. We had been looking forward to this trip for several years.
The Outrigger Reef on the Beach provided the perfect stay for us. The entire staff was so pleasant and helpful starting with Peter who checked us in. The Shorebird and Ocean House restaurants were outstanding in every way. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, the lunch menu and especially cooking our meal on the barbeque grill! That is a fun idea.
The pool is absolutely beautiful. Only wished the sun wasn't shaded so early in the day by the buildings.
The women working in the gift shop were very helpful and pleasant.
The beach services located directly out in front of the Shorebird resturant were fantastic and a great addition to the Hotel. We rode on the Outrigger Canoe and took surfing lessons. Kenny is absolutely wonderful! I wish I could remember the names of the other three, two men and one gal, who went out of their way to be sure we had a fun experience. I started out the surfing lesson with an upset stomach and when I actually got sick a long way from shore, I was brought in and so well taken care of. I appreicated it so much! I will stay here again and will recommend it to my friends. Thank you for making our trip such a fun memory!

Had a wonderful stay. Our room category was partial ocean view. I have stayed at other hotels with partial ocean views and this one had a great view of the ocean. I was able to get up in the morning and see the surfers from my balcony. The property is on the beach, so needless to say, a short stroll from the elevator and you are on the beach. There are vendors that rent chairs, umbrella's, and water toys. The Shore Bird is a great value for breakfast. I have been to the island several times and they offer a buffet breakfast for $12.95. This is a great value considering some hotels charge up to $32.00 for breakfast. The hotel's pool is open and there is still construction at the property. For the value and location the construction was not a bother to me. Several restaraunts are within walking distance if you don't want to take advantage of the hotel restaraunts. The hotel offers transfers to and from the airport, the aloha stadium - I bought my transfers from a tour operator before hand and was disappointed to see that the hotel offered them at a lower rate, they also have a tour desk. Enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to a return visit.
