Had a wonderful stay. Our room category was partial ocean view. I have stayed at other hotels with partial ocean views and this one had a great view of the ocean. I was able to get up in the morning and see the surfers from my balcony. The property is on the beach, so needless to say, a short stroll from the elevator and you are on the beach. There are vendors that rent chairs, umbrella's, and water toys. The Shore Bird is a great value for breakfast. I have been to the island several times and they offer a buffet breakfast for $12.95. This is a great value considering some hotels charge up to $32.00 for breakfast. The hotel's pool is open and there is still construction at the property. For the value and location the construction was not a bother to me. Several restaraunts are within walking distance if you don't want to take advantage of the hotel restaraunts. The hotel offers transfers to and from the airport, the aloha stadium - I bought my transfers from a tour operator before hand and was disappointed to see that the hotel offered them at a lower rate, they also have a tour desk. Enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to a return visit.

I just want to say thanks to everyone that write on this site. It was very helpful.
Where do I begin. Well, let me just say that I have a great time at the Outrigger. It was a very nice, clean hotel. I didn' have any problems at all. The location was the best. It was in walking distance to all the major stores and resturant. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The activity desk was very knowledgeable about the activities that you can do. We loved Dukes Resturant. The only thing that I didn't like was the birds that walked freely around the resturant. If you can, upgrade to an Ocean Front Room!!!! We were in room 711. The hotel was remodeling, but it wasn't a bother at all. I never head anything while staying there. I like that the hotel was offer free vows renewal which we did. We were there for our 2nd anniversary. It was free so we did it. It was nine couples all together. It was a couple who got married just 2 days ago. I can go on and on about the Outrigger, but I will end it here. Just go and have fun!!!!!

This hotel is being renovated and was just beautiful. The construction is kept to a minimum as to effect your stay. The rooms are lovely and the Shorebird cannot be beat. for scenery and their Lava Flows. Vow renewal ceremony was way more than I ever expected. Great location to walk to most of downtown Honolulu. Beach has a beautiful view of Diamond Head. You won't go wrong staying here as we just loved it. Everyone is so nice and helpful and you are located near the bus stop for going to places too far to walk. I highly recommend this hotel and I am hoping we get to go back sometime in the near future. Full of island spirit and Aloha.

Just returned from a great week at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. The property is still being renovated so it is still
pretty noisy at the pool durning the day you might want to take along an I-pod to block out the construction noise.
The service given by the staff is incredible, they called us by our names as if we had been there 10 times before. Each time we
picked up our car to go site seeing we were greeted by great people, we received directions, weather report, places to stay away from due to road construction and two water bottles. The new rooms are magnificent, new beds and pillows
great colors, big rooms. Very first time I can say that I slept in a bed
that felt good with great pillows just like home! We loved it!!
Housekeeping does a wonderful job, would like to have brought them home with us. Shore BIrd resturant is great and right
there on the beach so you can see the sunset during dinner.
They even have a place to get your boarding passes for your
trip home if you fly Hawaiian Air, so no standing in line at the
airport. Good Job guys!!

Stayed at the Outrigger Reef for 5 nights. Upon check-in the front desk guy,Rey, was very rude and unhelpful. He was very submissive and not at all friendly or reflecting the "aloha spirt" of the islands. But alas we were tired and stayed. We were to be in 2 adjoining rooms so I may assist my disabled mother as needed. Rey, in all his infinate wisdom, put us in 2 rooms that were side by side only in the fact that they had adjoining walls. To get to her room I would have to walk around the corner in the hallway, which would have been no use to me in an emergency. But as I said we setteled and decided that we would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Then came the really bad part. As I was sitting at the desk in the room a maid opened the door WITHOUT even knocking and strolled in like she owned the place. She stated that "This room is susposed to be empty. I forgot to put something in here." She then threw a bar of soap on the floor and walked out. This was the final straw. I stormed to the front desk and DEMANDED to speek to a manager. But of course he was in a "meeting" and could not be disturbed.(For a paying guest?Hmmmmm) Anyway, after arguing with the "wonderful" Rey another lady at the desk (Flo) stepped up and bassiclly shut Rey out of the problem. She apoligized deeply for the problems. She also graciously upgraded our rooms from partial ocean view to full ocean view with a connecting door so I could asist mom as needed. So after that fiasco it was not that bad of a stay and the rest of the stay was uninventful. So I do recommend this hotel to you all but I advise you to proceed with caution when dealing with the front desk at check in. Also do be aware that as of this writing the entire front of the hotel that faces the street is under construction so from what I was told from other guests is a tad noisy.
