We normally stay at Embassy Suites just across the road - but as we were celebrating our anniversary chose to stay at Outrigger for our final couple of nights so we could participate in their vow renewal ceremony. From the moment we drove into valet parking this hotel impressed. The valet and check in staff were welcoming and as the bellhop walked us to Reception he pointed out a number of hotel features to us. We had booked a ocean view suite and were pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms - though for an ocean front hotel our room felt a long way away from it. Both the bedroom and lounge were large and well appointed. We were travelling with our teenage children and the lounge enabled them both a fair degree of space - with one on a sofa bed and the other on a rollaway. Lounge and bedroom were separated by a two way bathroom - and everything was immaculate and well serviced.
The true highlight though was the vow renewal ceremony - I had booked this for my husband and myself and had almost pulled out at the last minute thinking we couldn't be bothered. However, the ceremony was done beautifully - we were both surprised at how moving and relevant we found it and would like to thank all who conducted this on making it such a lovely experience.
As we were in Waikiki on the 71st anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the eve of the Honolulu Marathon the hotel was full to capacity. Despite this we found it to be extremely quiet and service was always exceedingly fast and efficient. It was also lovely to have the opportunity to hear survivors of the attack speak of where they were and what happened to them on that day and made our visit to Pearl Harbor even more poignant.
However, despite the facilities and rooms being slightly more upmarket than Embassy Suites as a family we felt that Embassy and it's amazingly friendly staff had the edge. The buffet breakfast at the Embassy was far superior to that offered at the Shorebird, there was no extras like evening Managers reception or a welcome drink on arrival. I also object to having to pay to use the internet in a business centre (free at the Embassy - I am paranoid about using an unsecure connection in the room). Perhaps due to the size of the Outrigger we found it somewhat impersonal.

My husand and I stayed here for 14 nights - 10 in Partial Ocean View and 4 city view - Both rooms were beautiful, I wouldnt pay extra for the view we only moved due to booking on Priceline. Rooms are very spacious and modern ...This hotel is directly on the beach you just walk out the back and you are on it - the bar and restaurants are both also on the beach. A quick walk to shops I was at Sephora and Victoria Secret in 3 minutes and I was there often! This was our 2nd visit and would stay here again if getting the same amazing rate on Priceline.

I highly recommend the Outrigger Reef at Beach. Located at a far end of the beach, the peaceful and tranquility of this hotel is the result. Great value. The poolside environment offers a break from the hustle and bustle of the Wakiki Beach tourist and shopping areas. However the hotel is close enough to the street action should one desire it.

If one also wants a break from the sun, surf, shopping and beach, the hotel is a short walking distance to the US Army Museum and its great historical exhibits.

The rooms are nice and the housekeepers and their services are very good.

The hotel staff was friendly and brought us champagne as a free perk for our honeymoon. We also received an ornament on Christmas. The hotel is right on Waikiki which is very nice. Our room was clean and satisfactory. The only negatives were that the pool closed at 9 pm and the parking was 35.00 per night. Overall, we were pleased with our stay and would recommend it to others. The Shorebird restaurant on the property had a fabulous breakfast buffet.

If you have to give these guys an e-mail address, make up a temporary one with gmail / hotmail or something just for the booking because you will unsubscribe continually but keep receiving their time share offers and holiday specials.

The hotel is fine but they will continue spamming you for years to come no matter how much you unsubscribe from each of their confounded lists!!!

Room Tip: Their room descriptions (extent of ocean views) are optimistic at best. Some room numbers are way w...

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in December. It was completely great. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for 6 nights before this but I refused to pay $400+ for the privilege to stay there and after researching nearby hotels we chose the Outrigger Reef. The beach was smallish but the staff was so great and really catered to the hotel guests over those who were from other hotels using the same beach. The room was as big if not bigger than the Hilton for $50 less a night. The bathroom was much better set up. toilet and shower in a separate room so I could have the mirror to get myself ready while hubby and boys cycled through the shower,. The mini-fridge was much bigger than the little one in the Hilton and the service was great from housekeeping. The toiletries they put in the room were a generous size meaning I didn't have to buy anything extra. I will review the restaurants on their own, but they were really good. Also, I saw comments about the pool, well my boys who are older Loved the pool because it was actually deep and they could really swim. It has a ledge along one side that made it ok for our smaller neice and nephew to be able to use the pool and the three hot tubs rocked. The bar pool side had good service, good food and drinks and the prices were average for the area. Yes the pool was cold but it had been raining for days and would have been warming up if it was hotter out. All in all, if you are looking for a place to hang out on a good beach, surf, paddle board, use beach umbrellas and get decent drinks and food and shopping all in one place ( the Waikiki Beachwalk is just up the street and so is Kalakaua and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Plazz) and a great ABC store ;-) then this is a good choice, with a decent price and wonderful amenities.

Room Tip: We had a city view room, cheaper by quite a bit and our room overlooked the pool, unless you came to...

Great size rooms and fresh feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Outrigger Reef, as it had everything we needed. Good rooms, great dining and entertainment fairly secluded beach not as crowded as the heart of Waikiki. Staff were quite friendly too.
