The Outrigger Reef was exactly as stated in brochures and the service from the staff was fabulous. We arrived to find that there were no King beds available, however, our twin room was fine. Next morning we received a call to say a King was available would we like it so we moved to room 1742 with a view of the pool and sea. We were also able to listen to the Hawaiian music in the restaurant every night. Maid service was also spot on and friendly.
As non smokers we were pleased to find smoking was not allowed on the hotel premises.
We ate at the poolside restaurant, Kani Ka Pila Grill several times and the food was perfect (converted to Mahi Mahi). Again service was perfect.
Happy Hour (12-5) in the Shore Bird overlooking the beautiful Waikiki shoreline for Mai Tais (3.50 USD)
We were able to process our boarding cards and check in the night before our flight and settle our bill as we had to leave at 4am - ouch!
Views from the beach are spectacular and we saw Father Christmas wander past several times!
Definitely did not want to leave and look forward to trying other Outriggers in other locations. Thank you to the Outrigger team for making our trip of a lifetime so perfect.

Out of all my stays the Outrigger Reef on the Beach was the best. Prices are the best for what you receive. The rooms for a Partial ocean view were more than what I anticipated. Awesome. and the amenities for the rooms, an actual nice size bottle of shampoo, bar of soap, hairdryer, fridge etc. Any man taking his wife she would be completely satisfied with the area, hotel and the restaurants. The Shore bird restaurant was a view I shall never forget. Where can you enjoy a full breakfast all you can eat while watching surfers, and rainbows. Many areas within the hotel itself are priced just right! The employees are top notch! Very helpful and explain everything you need to know! Very Very clean, secure and I cannot even describe how perfect and excellent this stay was!

Our family stayed here the 1st week in August. We couldn't have been happier with our accommodations. The rooms were perfect! We did have an ocean front room and the view was gorgeous. The rooms were nicely appointed, clean and spacious. We would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff made you feel welcome every day!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor with an ocean front room. No complaints about noise or location.

I just came back from Hawaii and loved this hotel. The area in which the hotel is in is not cheap. You can walk to all the shops on the Waikiki walk but shopping is very expensive. There are many ABC stores to go to and of course if you have access to a car go to Walmart its your best bet. Hotel is kept clean and staff is very nice. Do not do the time share presentation. They tell you they will not pressure you but if you don't buy they get angry. Go to Duke's restuarant it is located five minutes away at the other Outrigger location you will not be disappointed. If you choose this hotel you will be pleased. Also walk down a little the beach that is out in front of the hotel is also a little rocky.

Although we only stayed for one night, we thoroughly enjoyed the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, in Honolulu. I had been to Honolulu before and personally didn't care for the crowds, but since I was bringing my husband, who has never been to Hawaii before, I decided we'd stay 2 days and one night on Waikiki beach so he could experience Honolulu before heading to the North Shore.

After reading some reviews on this property I'm amazed that people are taking points off because of how busy and "un" private the beach is. Well, don't you know where you're going? Waikiki Beach is crazy busy and about as private as Times Square! The fact that the beach is busy has nothing to do with the hotel! This hotel, I believe, is one of 4 on Waikiki Beach that is DIRECTLY on the beach, with a nice chunk of sand to call it's own. It took us about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel, we pulled right up and had our car valet parked. (30.00-but typical for the hotels in the area). We were put in an ocean front room (219) and I have to say that my jaw literally hit the floor when we opened the door. The view was absolutely amazing.

The room had the most comfortable, HUGE, king size bed, a sofa bed, desk, small sitting area and a nice size bathroom with shower, tub and great bath amenities. (oh, LOVE the coconut toiletries) I loved the decor (none of that gaudy carpet or draperies, really just lovely). The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and you could just tell that they really, really loved their jobs and are well taken care of by the owners. I often wonder what people have done when they talk about the staff being rude? I just can't imagine these people being rude to somebody.

The hotel is in a great location, just a block or two from the main shopping drag and a short stroll to restaurants such as Duke's or Cheesecake Factory....

Yes, the pool is on the other side of the hotel, away from the beach, but so what? I'm not sure why that is such a big deal to people, if they tried to put the pool in back by the beach, it would take away from the size of the beach. It's fine just where it is and so long as you know this, then what is the big deal? We walked by the Sheraton and sure the pool was awesome looking and facing the water but guess what? No beach for them!

In a nutshell, all I can say is that I'm surprised this hotel isn't rated higher what with it's great location, awesome beach and excellent service. This hotel is definitely one of the best deals on Waikiki Beach. I've stayed at the Moana Surfrider, which is an excellent hotel, but there wasn't a whole lot more to like than the Outrigger Reef. Seriously, you can't go wrong here.

You can eat your breakfasts looking out on Waikiki beach, how cool is that.
The hotel is much bigger that you think,17 floors in total in two towers, but it doesnt feel like a big hotel. The rooms are comfortable, all you need,no minibar, but that is a good thing as its's not cheap to buy things in the hotel, free safe and hairdryer, and a coffee/tea maker, this coffee is good the tea is not(fruit tea only)
All the staff are friendly and happy to help,Sean who works on the "Bell Desk" was full of information about where to go and what to see,Pearl harbour is a must, also if you are feeling energetic you can walk to Diamond head crater fron this hotel,it takes about an hour to walk there and another to walk to the top of it,a word of caution,do not walk up to the top of the crater if you cannot navigate very very steep steps and and uneven path, this walk is not for the faint hearted,i was absolutley shattered and dripping with sweat whe i got to the top.
Breakfast start at about $14.00,the pancakes at the pool bar are excellent and very filling, two is enough, the coffee is not so good, the juice tastes like cordial.
There are plenty of loungers around the pool and there are always some free, towels are supplied,if you want to lie on a lounger with an umberella on the beach,it will cost you $30.00 for two loungers an umberella for four hours !!!.
There hotel is surrounded by other tall hotels which makes the noise travel upwards so you can hear a lot of noise even in our room which was on the 11th floor .
There are plenty of places to eat, best burgers are from Dennys, best beer selectiion from The Yard, other good places to eat are Giovanni Pastrami & Subway all on Lewers street

Room Tip: Higher floor the better.
