“Excellent value spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

I was very surprised with our accommodations. We have been traveling to Hawaii for over 30 years and have stayed at a variety of places and price ranges in Waikiki (Hilton Hawaiian Village, IIlikai Suites, Hyatt Regency, etc). However, this was to be a budget trip due to our traveling companions requirements.
We booked early and paid extra for the one bedroom suite on one of the top floors. Yes, the furniture is dated (It reminded me of early 70's bamboo white inspired motif). However, the king bedroom was large and the living room had a round table, sofa, some chairs, a small kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator, and an electric skillet. There were lanais that faced the mountains and the ocean. There was view of the ocean between the Hyatt's two towers. I was anticipating the much discussed small bathroom. However, in this unit there was a shower over the tub and enough room. After all, this is a moderate priced hotel.
Housekeepers were excellent. We did not use the air conditioning. There was a small table on the good sized lanai.
We ate out most meals. There is a clean, friendly, fast serving Denny's about a block and one half away. It has the regular budget menu. Coffee is $1 with an AARP card. The AARP card also gives you 20% discount during certain evening hours.
I would return. It is a central located clean hotel. We paid about $160 per night and this was well worth the cost. It is easy walking to most of Waikiki, with buses and trolley stops nearby.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to upgrade. Call the front desk during non-busy hours. They were very helpful.

We stayed at the Ohana East March 13 - 20, 2013. We were upgraded to the PH floor for $50.00 extra per day. If I had it to do over again, I would not have payed the difference for a higher floor, express elevator, and extra space. The Ohana East has a great location minutes from the beach, shopping, entertainment, zoo, acquarium, and anything in Waikiki that you want to see. The furniture in the room was very dated, but the king bed was extremely comfortable. I didn't like the air conditioning since it was either on or off with no actual temp control. Staff was very helpful and plesant in all areas of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel as other than the dated furniture and temp controls was what I expected. Location, staff, parking for the price is great.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for the PH floor. I feel that it should be either a free upgrade because the be...

Spent 5 days in a one bedroom apartment (i think they call this room a SUITE but probably not the best wording for this), It does have very old old old furniture so definitely dont expect any mod cons in the room - the bed was very uncomfortable and the aircon was too loud. Definitely had problems with the tv all the time and the servicing for this was not very speedy. HOWEVER the cleaning of the room was impecable!!!!! well done HOUSEKEEPING!!! all the other staff were also very nice and informative - thank you all. Where this hotel is situated is spot on! very central - easy to walk to places or catch the bus for $2.50 - eating places also very handy. I do recommend this accom for its location.

My vacation to Hawaii was awesome and the hotel was partially responsible for that. The location was great. Just a couple blocks from the beach. I easily walked there everyday. The staff were extremely helpful, especially Rochelle. She helped me organize my excursions within 30 min of my first day there and my week was planned. Thx allot!!!
The front desk staff also assisted me with shopping info and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to others to use. My ex-military rate offered was a bonus. I was there for the marathon which the hotel was involved with sponsoring. Food promotions at the bar/restaurant was helpful to get ready for the run.
Thx!!

This is a budget accommodation hotel and even though it is basic it was clean and easy walking distance to the many restaurants, ABC Shops and just a short stroll to the International Market and the beach was only a block away. We had booked a City View room with walk in shower, but when we got there the room had a shower over the bath, so we had to accept a smaller room which was OK even though it only had a double bed, but it was adequate for the 4 days we were there.

Room Tip: We found it a bit of a problem getting a room with just a walk in shower, most of the rooms have a s...

Comfortable rooms, close to the beach and the staff were fantastic. I would stay there again if i ever went to hawaii again. Also the concierge desk has plenty of information and broachers.
The only thing was that was a bit of disappointment was that 2 of the in our party were on a different floor but it was spring break and not much could be done about that

Room Tip: All the rooms are great
