“Not bad overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Let me first preface with saying that I HATE staying in Wakiki. Took this trip to get my mileage for the year and had some hyatt points to burn so ended up staying at this hotel. It's actually in a really good spot (if you like wakiki) towards the end of the stip and right next to the honolulu zoo. Rooms were great...very good size, comfortable, clean and most importantly to me had a good selection of television channels :)

Parking (as is everywhere in wakiki) is kind of a pain but not intolerable. Very reasonable parking garage just across the street for 12 bucks a day in and out as much as you like. Valet at hotel was 25 a day so I only used it for my last day to avoid lugging (no pun intended) my luggage to the car.

I only had two negatives to bring up and both are mostly minor. First, the hotel elevators are insaneeeeeely slow. Spent a good amount of time waiting for an elevator. I was on the 10th but it might as well been 100th for the time I spent waiting. Secondly and a little more to be concerned about is the shower sliding glasses. My first day there I almost broke my fingers due to the way the handles operate. I mentioned it to the staff but thought you should be aware of it.

Overall though, great place to stay if you're in the wakiki area. Oh...and they offer a free hot breakfast which helps cut the costs of eating downtown....that alone for a family is worth $50 or more a day.....

Aloha James H.,
Mahalo for your review. We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed our spacious accommodations, scenic views, and affordable rates. Most of our previous guests have raved about the complimentary a.m. Kitchen Skillet, and glad you were able to enjoy it firsthand. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again soon.

The attentive quality of the staff, the sophisticated modern decor of the room and its huge HDTV, the terrific bar menu available 24 hours, the bus stop a few yards away, the Fitness room with plenty of very good equipment, the calm organization, the good complimentary breakfast, the $5 mai tai's at Happy Hour, the free wi-fi throughout plus the free-access computers and printer in the lobby, and the free lei-making class all added up to a great stay and a really well-run hotel. And it's only a block from the beach and a block from the zoo.

Room Tip: I fyou ask for a room on the 3rd floor, you'll be near the breakfast area, pool and fitness room...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights prior to our Hawaii Cruise on NCL. Great value as you get free hot breakfast which was usually one item that was featured for the day-ex: biscuit breakfast sandwich and pancakes the next. Nice assortment of fresh fruit, cereals, toast etc. Did I mention it was FREE-so can't complain about it. The room also came with free WIFI. It was a couple blocks away from the beach but that was fine with us. The room was updated and clean which is very important to me. The staff were very friendly. We were able to leave our luggage with them as our cruise wasn't till later that evening. We decided we wanted to hang at the beach a little longer! We were on the 4th floor and did not find it too noisy. We're heavy sleepers anyways.

we stayed at this hotel for one night in Dec. 2012.

Pros:
The hotel is 2-3 blocks away from the Waikiki beach, which you can take a stroll over and enjoy swimming in the protected area in Waikiki beach. Great for families with small kids.
The hotel also offers free breakfast: sausage & egg bagels, variety of juices and cereals, oatmeal and rice.
The hotel is very clean and remodeled with modern furnishings
Cons:
Parking is 25 dollars per day. We had an incident with the valet where we called for getting our car. The front desk picked up the call and agreed to relay the message. We waited 30 minutes and haven’t seen our car. Finally talked to the Valet service. They were not aware of our request.
We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds. The room setting is configured like a studio. The sink is in the same area where the bed is without a closed door, which was not very good for families having early risers.
The bathroom configuration is very crammed - you can barely squeeze in to use the toilet and bath tub.

This Hyatt exceeded all my expectations. It was our first trip to Honolulu and I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming hotel staff. Being Canadian and working in a hotel in Vancouver, I know a few things about great hospitality, but boy did the staff at the Hyatt blow me away. On top of that; the rooms were modern and spotless, the breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect. Great job!

The rooms are compact. That's not to say small. They are nice and adequate. We found them just right for our stay. Like the caption says, you won't spend much of your awake time in a hotel room when on Waikiki, so why spend extra? The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Have searched and visited many Waikiki hotels for a family of 6 and based on bedroom configurations, I recommend this hotel for a family of 5 or 6 as the best value. Whereas other hotels will require two rooms, this hotel you can do with one room saving hundreds of dollars. More details on this is found on the Hawaii newsletter at prasadandassociates.com This hotel also has an incredible self serve breakfast featuring bowls of fresh pineapples and great coffee! It is only a 2 block walk from the beaches of Waikiki - just perfect!
