“Overall a fantastic value for money hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

A fantastic little hotel, rooms are clean and cosy, the kitchenette is a welcome addition.
No kettle though, which i thought was strange. Bathroom, while not luxurious, is quite adequate, always kept clean, lots of fresh towels daily.
Lovely little pool, cold and hot water available in the lobby, although free coffee was pretty awful (but then again, we in Australia are spoilt for choice there). Beach towels and chairs are available for free.
The location is fantastic, 3 minutes walk to the beach.
The only one thing I had an issue with was free wifi internet... which is supposed to be available in the lobby and by the poolside only. While the reception seemed fine, i was only able to connect occasionally. The staff had to constantly reboot the router in order for me to do so. We had 3 different devices between the two of us, and it was happening on all of them. Other customers had issues also.
Come on guys, in this day and age, wifi internet should be available in all the rooms. I would be happy to pay a small additional fee for that, as long as it was reliable. As someone who visits Hawaii at least once a year, I need internet to connect to my family and friends back home in Oz. International roaming is still expensive, so internet is not luxury really. I know there is an ethernet cable in the rooms, but who is travelling with their laptops these days? Phones and tablets are everywhere, so wifi is a necessity.
Please fix this, and I will be back in a heartbeat!

Aloha RedRoo00!

Mahalo for taking the time to share feedback of your recent visit. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. We absolutely understand and agree with your comments relative to the necessity of WIFI! We have been shopping around for the best fit for our WIFI needs and have just found a vendor that we believe will be able to provide us with the best possible WIFI service for our guest rooms. We are working on an installation schedule and hope to have WIFI in all guest rooms in the very near future. Thank you for bearing with us in the meantime and we look forward to sharing the improvement with you on a future visit.

Thank you for staying with us!

Warm Regards,

Kahealani Colon

Spent twelve days here over christmas, when we checked in we were upgraded to third floor room 310 overlooking the pool. Room was big two beds, seperate kitchen, bathroom and three balconies. We got to enjoy free wi-fi and fresh lemonade while hanging out by the pool. It is a smaller boutique hotel which I much prefer and only a five min walk to beach and restaurants. The staff here are very special and what make this hotel a real gem to visit, Nicole,Fe,Zennie and Raymond. Mahalo for making our holiday beautiful memories we will be back

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool

For our 40th anniversary we were privileged and excited to take a trip to Hawaii since our last vacation was for our 25th. We were looking for a good hotel hopefully with some character, at a reasonable price. The Bamboo seemed to fit the bill. The staff was very helpful in answering our questions when we were making reservations. We had read some reviews about problems on certain floors but great reviews on others. We requested the recommended floors and prayed we would get a good assignment as nothing comes with a guarantee. We arrived late and exhausted to find a friendly staff awaiting us. We were delighted at the quaint character of the hotel. Our corner room on the 10th floor, was clean and inviting with a great view, the little kitchen nook was perfect! We loved it !! We were very thankful to be blessed with these serene surroundings and hope to visit again some day. If you choose to stay at the Bamboo make sure to visit our favorite hangout, the 'Hawaiian Crown Plantation' just down the street for the sweetest pineapples ever!

With so many hotels in Honolulu, I was a little overwhelmed. I didn't want a big chain hotel right on the beach. This was the perfect place for us! It was smaller and only a few blocks away from the beach. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. The room was big, clean, and quiet. We loved the full kitchen and enjoyed breakfasts on the balcony. The free beach towels and chairs were very nice. Parking is limited, but with valet service it wasn't a problem.

We stayed at the Aqua Bamboo before and after a cruise, for a total of 5 nights. For the first stay we were upgraded from a standard room to one with a small kitchen, two balconies and a peek-a-boo view of the ocean. The room was quite small, with a queen bed and futon taking up a fair amount of space.

The second stay we had a regular room, with a great view towards the ocean, though a huge patio door which was quite dirty and did not open even though there was a railing. The balcony that we had access to had a view into the apartments of the building directly in front.

The pool area is wonderful for relaxing after touring around. Internet access is free, but only available in the pool and lobby areas - Aqua Please consider providing access in the rooms which would be more convenient.

Aloha Travlr,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of the Aqua Bamboo Waikiki. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the relaxing pool area after long days of sightseeing and tours. We would like to inform you that we do currently have the cable internet hook ups in the rooms, however we are currently negotiating an upgrade which would provide wifi services in all the rooms. Also, I would like to inquire about the room you stayed in. If at all possible, please email me at nyoshimoto@aquaresorts.com so I may look into your lanai door situation. All lanai doors should open, so I would like to make sure we look into this so that it is in a safe and operable condition.
On behalf of all of us at Aqua Hotels & Resorts, we appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you again in the future. Thank you very much for all your positive comments and we look forward to your next visit!

Stayed here for one night before renting a condo in the same area. Overall, pretty good choice. Would I stay here again- depends on the pricing and location of our room.

We were assigned room on 2nd floor - facing the next door property - no view at all and really the room was very dark. So for one night OK< but for a week - I don't think so.

The staff was great and very friendly. The pool/spa area is very nice and we enjoyed that. I think it is open until 10pm.

Location is great. Easy walk to everywhere - just 2 blocks to the Duke's beach and the statute of King K. Nice!

Room has some great amenities such as a full stove top and fridge, micro, sink, etc. Apparently this is a condo hotel where units are owned indivudally so may be some variance, not sure. We had 2 double beds, instead of a queen, but they were OK. Some upgrades in the room, but a bit "cheap" on the re-do. All in all, certainly OK, but again, just for one night, so no complaints.

Price and staff were great. Place was clean. ON the 2nd floor you c ertainly heard some street noise in the morning.

The hotel was centrally located. I liked being in a clean boutique hotel which had all required amenities. The hotel was serviced daily, and we had a double room with a kitchenette so we could do basic breakfasts with toast, microwave, and store items in fridge. The beds were comfortable The WiFi did not work efficiently for my friend's use. We had a hotel that overlooked the courtyard and pool. I used the hot tub. We had the air conditioning on at night or it would have been a bit noisy.
