“Wow...Totally Amazing. ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in September 2014, and it was good.

The hotel resort is amazing, with a wide range of restaurants and shops located within. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

The resort has a few swimming pools, we only ever used the main pool and this was nice. A good size with plenty of sun beds around. The pool itself is very cold, though I guess this is done on purpose to help cool you down whilst relaxing in the sun.

The hotel backs on to the beach which is beautiful. White sand, very clean, and amazing views.

The Benihana restaurant within the resort is a must. Good food and entertainment. Also do a Luau show if you can.

Walking distance to Waikiki town centre where there are a ton of restaurant, bars, shops you can visit, as well as U.S. Army museum behind the hotel.

Negatives:
- Bathrooms need updating.
- Pool could be warmer.
- Pool bar expensive.
- Resort fee not included in room price.

We would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

We paid extra for a ocean view - and honestly - we did have an ocean view but you practically needed binoculars to see it! I have stayed in much better rooms in a Hampton Inn than the upgraded room we paid dearly for!! It was a good 15 minute walk to the beach, and once we did get to the beach we were told we had to PAY to have a chair to sit in on the beach! REALLY????? It was quite expensive too! EVERYTHING was expensive and the staff were not helpful or friendly. They had quite a few concierges but we could NOT find even one who was helpful and actually knew anything about the area. They only changed the sheets on our beds once in the 9 days we stayed, and our glasses had lip prints and definite signs of use from the previous occupants ! The room did not feel or smell clean. If you are planning a trip to Hawaii.............STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

Room Tip: Find another hotel!!!!!!!

Here for a twelve day stay and the first thing that strikes you is the size of this complex, it really is huge with multiple accommodation towers, pools, stores and gardens to keep you occupied. We had a great deal with our ocean view room as we were quoted a cheaper rate due to construction activity for a new tower, however, to our surprise there was no noise or visual sign of any construction activity from our room or balcony. And whilst our tower was one of the older towers in the complex the room and its facilities were more than enough. The staff are courteous and friendly, the buffet breakfast, whilst on the pricey side, does offer a wide variety of food to enjoy and having so many pools and a sand lagoon together with an expansive beach frontage means that you shouldn't struggle to find a spot to soak up the sun!

A couple of negatives, firstly the $30 per day resort charge is too high for what you get. Essentially for most travellers it offers (1) WIFI - connectivity is so flakey with constant dropouts that you often need to revert to mobile roaming to complete your activity (2) Gym access - unless you are in the Ali tower you need to make you way to the Tapa tower - sorry guys this is not good enough, it's to far to get to and when you get there you're lucky to find the machine you want. (3) access to the business centre - and that's about it! whilst there are more than five client access PCs available there is an Internet charge for each 30 seconds with a 15 minute minimum charge plus a charge for each page printed. So we don't really understand what we really get for $30 US a day...
Within the complex there are quite a few stores, some of them with vendors that keep asking you to try their cosmetics, again and again and again - really frustrating.
And finally the most annoying aspect of our stay was getting duped into going to a time share presentation - only 90 minutes maximum, well we were there for two and a half hours listening to pressure selling tactics, being overloaded with numbers and whenever we said "not interested" another variation would be proposed until they finally realised that we weren't going to budge and they showed us out with long faces that made us feel rejected for this "no obligation" session so take my advice and don't go a long to these sessions.

Room Tip: Dont waste to much on expensive rooms if you're only there to sleep... !

We have stayed here as a family and as a couple and there is always something for everyone. The service is totally aloha from the bell service team, front desk staff and restaurant we just feel welcome at every touch point. The village is self contained and after visiting Honolulu so many times - we never leave the village it has everything we want and need. Great beach, too many pools to count and several Starbucks to start my day.
We will return again and again!

I'm not sure what people are complaining about with this resort. We loved it here!
We have been coming to Hawaii for 13 years and have stayed exclusively at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. I was slightly concerned about staying here because of some bad reviews but I'm so glad we did stay. Huge resort that can definitely be called a resort with everything you need on site. We stayed in the Diamondhead tower and I went to theTapa pool every day and never had an issue finding a chair, there were always available chairs all day long. One day we went to the Super Pool and the Lagoon pool and also had no issue finding chairs in the afternoon. The Kalia pool only had about 2 people there each day, go there if you're looking for something a little quieter.
The resort is a quick walk to Ft. DeRussy and to everything else in Waikiki. One evening we walked to the Ala Moana mall which was a quick walk as well. We enjoyed the fireworks on Friday and loved how the resort always had something going on.
Friendly service every time we turned around, each employee was ready to answer any questions we had an no one ever pitched to us about the time share. Try the Rainbow Tower cake at Tropics and go to Lanikai for a morning protein shake. Hilton - we will be back!

My first hilton experience and I plan to make it my last. I will confirm what others have said.

$33/day for valet - then stand in line at the valet desk (2-3 minutes) - then get told it will be 15 minutes to get your car. No where to sit so we sat on the ground to wait. Self parking was $27/day, no deal either!

Two star rooms. We were on the 7th floor and it was very noisy with the window open. Low quality room - inexpensive tile in bath with a rusting sink, broken radio (not that big a deal but...).

Tapa pool crowded but ok except for the constant jack hammering from the nearby construction. Went to the other pool but lounge chairs are tightly packed 3 rows deep. The "no reserving of lounge chairs" does not appear to be enforced as most chairs sat idle with a towl on them even with few in the pool. Slides were fun for my little one until he cut open his hand on one of the slides water spouts. The beach is good for small kids as there is a breakwater. But be warned, the sand quickly turns to rock (coral shards?) and you will need water shoes.

There are several happy hour bars where the price drops to normal levels if you were outside of the 'village'. The village itself is blaise unless you enjoy paying retail for you Louis Vitton.

Best thing to do if you are 'stuck' with hotel is to drive out of the 'village' and explore the other beaches and restaurants outside of Waikiki. I found a nice small market with a very nice selection of wines and even a Sommilaie in training and picked up a nice Bourgogne Rouge in Kailua (near the naval base on the west side of Oahu). Great beaches there too. Likewise, the The North shore is even better around the cute little town of Waialua. Super beaches. A dinner at Jamisons overlooking the water is not to be missed and, at $25/entree, a steal compared to the village - better food, too.

Overall, a C+ property pretending to be B grade whose goal is to extract dollar out of your wallet. Faux smiles of staff who had little to offer.

If you love crowds, modest rooms, and are looking to get rid of lots of money, the Hilton Hawaiian Village is for you.

The property is very large and a bit confusing the first day. Beautiful landscaping and very friendly staff. 4 pools to choose from, a spa, and literally 100s of shops and restaurants on the property. It is very pricy for services and restaurants. Get out into the city and you will find great breakfast places. I love the hotel and will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Research all 5 towers to choose what's best for you.
