There are certain expectations you expect from 5 star hotels like the hilton. Cost: In addition to our room rate, we were asked to pay another $30/day to use the internet + some free classes they had. Most 5 stars give internet for free, and we certainly did not want to attend whatever classes they had to offer. So this felt like a rip off. Plus, parking was another $20-$30/day. Amenities: I've used better pools from other 5 star hotels. If you're in Asia, check out Shangri-la. Room Amenities: they did not even have toothbrushes for us nor razor! That's the very basic of necessities when you are paying anywhere between $250 - $700/night. Lastly, the furniture looks dated.

Aloha Benjamin M,

Thank you for taking your time to write a review and sharing your feedback. HHV currently charges a $30 mandatory resort charge that includes many benefits at a discounted price such as internet, DVD rentals, and social activities (please visit our website for the complete list of the benefits). Our resort has 5 distinctive pools including the 10,000 square foot Super pool and the Paradise pool that has the longest slide in Waikiki. We also have the salt water lagoon for guests to enjoy the sun and the water. Toothbrushes and razors are not placed in the room; however, upon request they are both available to be delivered to the room. We are sorry to hear that you found the furniture dated. HHV has several towers all with different characteristics. Our Ali’i tower and Rainbow tower are the two most recently renovated towers. We appreciate your feedback as we are always striving to improve our services to our guests. We hope you will return to HHV and provide us with another opportunity to service you in the future.

Mahalo,

Hilton Hawaiian Village Guest Services Team

We stayed at Rainbow Tower, we had a wonderful view over the ocean and Diamond Head. The beds were very comfortable. It's a beautiful resort, but the service at the check-in is something they need to work on, we did not get any information about the resort even though you have to pay for the resort charge 30 dollars per day!!!
The hotel's website said that they had five pools, but if you live in the rainbow tower, you can only use three, really bad!! Plus the big pools were poorly cleaned!
One day we had breakfast down stairs in Rainbow Tower, we never ask for the price and was chocked when got the bill 30 dollars per person!!!
It's not in Waikiki, but we loved that, it was nice to take a stroll on the beach in to Waikiki it only took about 15-20 minuites.

Aloha ann o,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in the Rainbow tower as well as the view of the ocean and Diamond Head from your room. However, we regret that we fell short in providing you detailed information about the resort during check-in. We appreciate your feedback and will work at ensuring that all our guests receive thorough information about our resort. HHV has a total of five pools. All the guests have access to four of the pools which includes the 10,000 square foot Super pool as well as the Paradise pool that has the longest slide in Waikiki. The Ali’i pool is reserved for only guests registered in the Ali’I tower. We extend our sincere apology for the situation you experienced with the cleanliness of the pool. Our pools are monitored and maintained to ensure sanitation as well as cleanliness and immediate action is taken upon learning of any issues. We appreciate your review as it will assist us in improving our services to our valued guests. We hope you will return to our property and look forward to servicing you in the future.

The grounds are beautiful and clean and are just a nice place to be. The pools and lagoon were crisp! and the stuff were friendly. I also think its on the best part of Waikiki beach. BUT!!! We paid full price for ocean/harbour view room while work was being done and no use of ocean balcony.

Very crowded, noisy, bustling environment. Grounds are beautiful and well kept, beach is beautiful but crowded, rooms are nice and clean, but if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place and an Hawaiian experience filled with Aloha, this is probably NOT the place to go.

Aloha Janet M,

Thank you for writing a review and sharing your feedback. We are happy to hear that you found HHV’s ground beautiful and the room as nice and clean. Hotel complex is like a small city with several hotel towers and pools inside the complex. Many places to eat with friendly service. The views from the beach are second to none. The hotel is approximately 8 miles from the airport and it is easy to get to. Hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating. I arrived early in the morning and they were happy to waive the early check in charge so I could get into the room and start my day.

I've stayed here many times, this is the first since the Alii tower refresh last year. Note that different towers give very different experiences, so judge reviews accordingly. I like the location of the tower as it's the only tower on a stretch of beach with a private pool deck overlooking the ocean. The refresh is great, everything is just as comfortable as before but updated. The service was great in all respects. The Alii tower is one of the best places to stay in Waikiki (though I would not extend this statement to the other towers and therefore not to the Hilton as a whole). Food and services at the resort are all fine, though if you want to walk out your door and be in Waikiki proper, this property is an easy 10 minute walk.

Upside: everything. Food, pools, bars, shops, concierge services, tourist services, loud or quiet the HHV has everything. From 5-star restaurants to Starbucks and even Round Table Pizza (okay, we didn't go there); the HHV has it all. Truly one of the finest beachfronts on Waikiki with an expansive beach, palm trees, killer sunset views, and enough activities for the kids to wear them out while the adults relax and refresh. Truly an outstanding and full-service resort.

Downside: the only real annoyance was the high-pressure push to attend a "time-share' presentation for one of the towers that is being converted (as we understand it) to a time-share. When we checked in we were give an exclusive card to get "discounts" at various shops. So we went to 'activate' the card and got slammed with a high-pressure push for the time shares. If we asked some innocuous questions of some of the desk-people (not the front desk folks, they were great!) the push nearly always came to attend a time-share presentation. If you like time-share presentations, fine...but if not watch out for the friendly folks who try to steer you there.

We also ate at the Tropics Bar and Grill (right on the beach) which had great food and killer sunset-views. With live-music to round out the evening, it was truly a very good experience.

You should leave occasionally to see the rest of the island and all Oahu has to offer. But if you just want to kick back and relax, the HHV is truly a 'complete' resort.

I will absolutely return to the HHV. First class all the way.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrades to Ali'i Tower (if you can afford it) or an ocean-view room in any of the tower...
