“THIS is an absolutely outstanding resort for a Hawaiian vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

Upside: everything. Food, pools, bars, shops, concierge services, tourist services, loud or quiet the HHV has everything. From 5-star restaurants to Starbucks and even Round Table Pizza (okay, we didn't go there); the HHV has it all. Truly one of the finest beachfronts on Waikiki with an expansive beach, palm trees, killer sunset views, and enough activities for the kids to wear them out while the adults relax and refresh. Truly an outstanding and full-service resort.

Downside: the only real annoyance was the high-pressure push to attend a "time-share' presentation for one of the towers that is being converted (as we understand it) to a time-share. When we checked in we were give an exclusive card to get "discounts" at various shops. So we went to 'activate' the card and got slammed with a high-pressure push for the time shares. If we asked some innocuous questions of some of the desk-people (not the front desk folks, they were great!) the push nearly always came to attend a time-share presentation. If you like time-share presentations, fine...but if not watch out for the friendly folks who try to steer you there.

We also ate at the Tropics Bar and Grill (right on the beach) which had great food and killer sunset-views. With live-music to round out the evening, it was truly a very good experience.

You should leave occasionally to see the rest of the island and all Oahu has to offer. But if you just want to kick back and relax, the HHV is truly a 'complete' resort.

I will absolutely return to the HHV. First class all the way.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrades to Ali'i Tower (if you can afford it) or an ocean-view room in any of the tower...

Awesome hotel! This hotel is in the heart of an excellent tourist district of Waikiki. This hotel has four towers that guests can choose from, and has four swimming pools, including a private lagoon, and of course the breathtaking beach of Waikiki.
There is a Japanese-style village close to the hotel that offers shopping, and restaurants.
The most useful shop by the hotel is the ABC Store, and it has everything imaginable! The sandwiches here are AWESOME!
Just minutes from the hotel, you can have world-class cuisine at the best restaurants in the world. My favorite restaurant in Oahu is Sansai:) Best sushi ever!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the beach, as well as the village. The views are awesome! and the rooms are quiet...

This is our third stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and second at the Ali'i Tower. We absolutely love it and will be back. We have stayed on the Ocean view side of the building and the second floor with the garden view. The second floor garden view was quiet and we didn't think it would be with the pool right outside. Gorgeous room!

My family and I spent a marvelous vacation in late January, where we can enjoy the convenient facilities on eating, swimming, sea activities and music at bar. This is really a "village" that you can find various life inside.
We are missing it now.

Room Tip: Rooms at rainbow tower, or hilton grand will be more close to sea view.

First off, I have to say the staff here was a welcome relief after finally arriving in Honolulu at 2AM after the most awful travel day ever. They were very nice and got us to our rooms quickly. In addition, we were not able to get our luggage when we arrived at the airport (long story) and were told it would be delivered to the hotel sometime in the afternoon. My husband talked to some of the staff and Bill was able to drive him over to the airport first thing in the morning in an SUV so they could pick up all 13 of our groups bags. THANK YOU!!!!

Now having been to this resort, it's funny to me how many people complain about how big it is....I'm not denying it, it is big, but if you take one look at the website, you have to know that you're not going to a quaint little resort! That being said, I didn't feel overwhelmed at all. I was traveling with a group of approximately 20 people and every time I left my room we ran into people from our group. I've been to bigger resorts that require shuttles, etc. It didn't take long at all to get used to the layout.

The rooms were nice. No problem with noise. We stayed in Tapas Tower with an ocean view. No complaints.

Beach was very nice. This area and the pool did get very busy, but not to the point that we didn't feel like we had our own comfortable space.

Spa was wonderful...had the nicest massage!!

Great catamaran trip right from the beach.

Car rental services within walking distance.

Wonderful shopping options right on site.

We stayed there upon our arrival in Waikiki living a lifetime dream of over 50 years to go to the Hawaiian Islands....We were definitely NOT disappointed. After the desk clerk heard my story he upgraded us to a room with breathtaking views I didn't want to leave. We were treated like movie stars the entire time. Everyone and everything at this hotel was awesome. You will not be disappointed.

We visited this condo facility starting Jan.14 for ten days. We arrived by car (from Thrifty) which was a short drive from the rental location. Traffic was heavy, so I suggest you bring a Garmin to get you to your destination with no hassle. Upon arrival, there were several bell men and car valets to take care of our baggage and park the car, The lobby is very large, and there was no waiting. Checking in was fast by the very courteous desk clerk. The walk to the elevators was 525 feet! There are 4 elevators, so waiting time was always very short. These large elevators are designed to give no feeling of motion, and they are very fast. The hotel is exceptionally clean. Everyone working there was very pleasant and helpful. There a 7 concierge desks which will help to plan trips, etc. At our request, the got us our return boarding passes.

Our condo was one BR, with a large living room, a well stocked modern kitchen with dishwasher, and a Cuisinart coffee maker which needs no filter. The building is 7 years old and has 36 storeys. The LR had a 42" flat screen while the BR had a 32." Virtually all of the many channels were in HI DEF. The BR had a king-sized bad, large closet, and a large soaker tub. The bathroom had a very large walk-in shower, and a large vanity. The kitchen had a built-in bench for 2 and two dining chairs opposite the bench. A nice touch. There is a health club in another tower on the 4th floor, but it is mostly treadmills and free weights.

The beach was very nice with no waves and water about 80 F. The beach sand is groomed every night. Be warned though, that renting two lounges and an umbrella per day costs $69! We drove to Wal-Mart and bought two beach chairs for under $40. We left them in the condo rather than hauling them all the back to FL. An umbrella was not needed most of the time because the temperatures were mostly about 75 F. It is a short walk to Waikiki Beach itself. It is not a big wave area. We did go to the west coast but the surfers are so far from the beach, they are hard to see, Two days later we drove to the north shore to see really big waves, but the water was so rough that surfers were no allowed in the water. The island is so small that your can drive all the major roads in two days.

All meals in Honolulu are expensive. You can go to suschi restaurants, the Olive Garden, The Red Lobster, McDonalds, etc.-all within walking distance. There are several restaurants in the Hawaian Village, some reasonable and some very expensive. Boat tours are available, but the whales were nowhere to be seen, so we skipped that. All boats rides allow smoking, the State is in the forefront of ending smoking everywhere. No smoking on any beach will be in effect next month. All beaches are owned by the State.

We would return to this facility.
