“Hilton Hawaii Village a nice place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Recently spent three nights before our cruise and found it a very nice place to stay. Several food options within walking distance and shopping close by. Nice well kept grounds and pools. If taking a tour they pick you up at the hotel. Laundromat couple of blocks away. I really wish they had a Laundromat on the property. The food was a little expensive and average on site but if you walk toward the marina area you can find cheaper restaurants. The room was well kept and a nice room. They were doing a lot of renovations while we were there but it was still a very nice place to stay. Enjoyed the resort map app on my phone. Would stay again...

We booked this hotel for three weeks between December 29, 2013 to January 19, 2014, sincerely looking forward to a great holiday in Hawaii, splurging more than A$600 a night in an ocean front room in the Ali'i Tower.
We arrived to the hotel to be received by a lazy luggage carrier who asked us if we needed help with the luggage and watched us offloading the luggage from the cab and then chased me at the end for the tip.
We walked to the reception to find long queues of people trying to checkin. The resort is extremely noisy from enormous amount of people. We actually did not mind the crowdedness cause we thought that it is the holidays and we just need to join in the spirit of celebration. after queueing for more than 30 minutes, we were checked in the Ali'i Tower. We walked to the Ali'i Tower to find that we actually didn't have to wait all of the time because the Ali'i Tower is an exclusive more expensive tower that has its own checkin with no checkin. No body card to tell us to go there from the beginning and safe time.
Hotel pools has a set of rules that ensure that kids cannot have fun at all. No running, no splashing, no playing with any toys, no screaming, no floats, no jumping, no cannonballs, etc. They expect us to bring our kids to the holiday with us, pay a premium price for a family which is more than couples pay and ask our kids to sit down and study in the pool. Some asian pool revellers wanted to read a book in the pool and therefore asked the pool attendant to stop the kids of playing. We were a number of families of different nationalities in the pool. The pool attendant went around and took all the toys and asked the kids to leave the pool. This was extremely outrageous. I decided not to speak to him as I was completely overwhelmed by the dragonians measure and his hostilities towards children. I decided to complain to management. The hotel assistant manage suggested that she buys me a $5 arm gloats as big floats are not around. She did not offer any apology to the kid of behaviour the pool attendant displayed. My family was disgusted by the hostile environment towards families and children and decided to cut our holiday short after 4 days.
We tried to have a walk along Waikiki beach to find other hotels such as the Sheraton, Royal Hawaiin, Hayatt Regency, Outrigger, Halekulani but we found that all of them have extremely small pools and relay on the patrons going to the beach. We actually liked the Hayatt Regency the best but decided to go back to Australia. We had to pay $2000 to have our flight booking changed from December 19, to December, 2. We did not mind the $2000 as long as we get out of here and go back to sweet Sydney.
We genuinely believe that the Hilton Hawaiian Village has an aggressive culture towards families and kids. It is ironic that the hotel is extremely noisy from the huge groups of adults, yet children have to be quiet. You find security officers in uniforms patrolling the hotels who are not hesitant about ordering you to go this way or the other. I don't want to pay $600 a night for a resort that wants to treat me as if I am back in school, spoken to. The hotel is extremely big and staff don't want to listen to you, they don't care about you and they don't want you to say anything because you are just one in hundreds. We believe destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Penang, Phuket, Singapore, Lankawi, Krabi, are far more relaxing where you can find genuine customer service and people who care and make sure that you enjoy your time in the hotel.
I truly recommend that families with children avoid the hotel. You kids will be spoken to by other rude people and staff with no consequences.

We took advantage of quite a few of the activities at the resort including the luau (which was a lot of fun). Also took advantage of the surf lessons and did some snorkeling. The proximity of our room to the beach was really convenient. There were a few negatives....it was crazy crowded...course it was Christmas....but wow. Also, the elevator in the rainbow tower was insanely annoying.....you select your floor and it assigns you to a specific elevator....guess what happens when there are 19 people assigned to the same elevator and they all have luggage....mass confusion.....additionally there were multiple instances where there were misbehaving elevators and there were 50 people waiting in the lobby....not fun. The other negative was that everything on the resort was expensive....those $5 sprites get old after a week.

We stayed here for 9 nights and apart from the physical structure having multiple pools and Hawaii being a beautiful place to be this hotel did absolutely nothing to make our stay better. The staff were unhelpful and rude. We had an early flight and booked a service to help with our luggage in the morning from the day before. No one arrived to help and when we called the bell service they said it could take a while to get someone up there although our transfer was waiting downstairs and us with our our 8 suitcases and 3 small children we were stranded in our room. We had to do several trips and get our kids to help with large suitcases to make our transfer. The bell staff were still very rude when I spoke to them downstairs and the manager was nowhere to be seen and didn't pick up the phone when I tried calling from the room.

What a great trip. Only vacation ever where nothing went wrong. Lovely rooms, excellent beds and bedding. Could not have asked for a better location or better service. Diamond Head tower rooms had beautiful ocean views, and for my daughter's family, a view overlooking one of the 4 pools open to all guests. Everything we needed was within walking distance, even Waikiki. The resort was perfect for us, ( an older couple) and my grandchildren (from 3 to 9) with lots for everybody to do and see.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms in Diamond Tower were peaceful and quiet. No pools on that side, lots less kid nois...

Just spent 3 nights at Hilton Hawaiin Village. So disappointing. Huge queues at check in were a sign of things to come. Internet in the room never worked properly. Service at breakfast simply hopeless...after waiting over half an hour for a coffee top up we just walked out. Zero recognition or usual benefits from being Hilton Diamond. The whole thing seems geared to try to sell you time share. Want a resort map? They try to sell you time share. Want to redeem your "free" bottles of water? They try to sell you time share. Easily the worst Hilton experience I have ever had... And the worst Honolulu experience by far. We will be back at the Westin next time!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We stayed 2 nights at the end of our week+ before Thanksgiving and we chose the Ali'i because we heard it was a great way to avoid the masses of families at this property. We made the right choice!

Room was amazing! HUGE with great appointments and outstanding bed/linens. Nice patio, ok view but comfy chairs, etc.

Pool was nice and quiet, very comfy lounge chairs, pool itself is avg but there are not masses of people because only Ali'i guests have access. Pool food & bev service was slow but functional.

Food on property is VERY expensive and just avg. Tip: Walk to the Chart House....its a steak and seafood place right in the marina area and the food it reasonably prices and of good value. We also walked to "the modern" in the marina and had breakfast by their pool...Food and drinks were better there than the Hilton

We would definitely stay at the Ali'i Tower again! It's worth the extra $$ and this property is a short walk to great food options. The Hilton has it all here!

Room Tip: Higher up to avoid resort noise.
