“Great for kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday. Initially wasn't keen about staying there, only due to not having seperate bedrooms and kitchen facilities, however, now, we wouldn't stay anywhere else! It was by far the best accomodation to stay at on Waikiki beach. The man made lagoon was a favourite by all of us (22 inc my husband's family) The kids could snorkle, paddle board etc in a safe environment. The slides at one of the pools was also a big draw card, for the little kids and the big kids! We will return one day to this establishment and having done a tour of the time share appartments (kitchen and seperate bedrooms) this will be a bonus. Did find the food a bit exy and to be honest, too salty, too fatty, over cooked and over sized! But, must give a mention to FRESCO overlooking the main lobby. Excellent food, excellent service.

Room Tip: We stayed in a family room, which was larger than expected. Although it didn't have seperate bed...

This hotel is really nice and in a great location. It has a cool Hawaiian feel for such a large hotel. The room was great, thanks to Lynn R who was so kind during check in. She seemed to really care about getting us the best room with the best view. I would stay here again, after I save up, as it is pricey. I recommend shopping outside of town and eating in the room to help with cost. The rooms have little refrigerators, so it is possible to bring food in and store it. I drove out of town to Costco and got some water and food to last the week. Enjoy your trip.

This was our 2nd visit to Waikiki but our 1st stay at the HHV. We utilised the self parking multi storey car park at $24 a night. Despite arriving early the room was available and allocated on the 30th floor of Rainbow Tower. Room was a corner, double aspect room with two balconies affording views across the sea, lagoon and marina and inland towards the mountains and Diamond Head. Room was very spacious, very light and airy and immaculately presented and benefiting by having a large lobby area with fridge and coffee maker, large wardrobe with free safe and iron/board. Room benefitted from a large bath/shower combined which was modern and worked extremely well. The balconies were equipped with sun lounger, chairs and table. It has to be noted that the views from the balconies were extremely good but it was also quite breezy! During our initial 7 day stay we dined at Tropics and CJ Deli on site (see separate entries on these restaurants). On a number of occasions during our stay we made various enquiries at the reception desk – coincidentally on a number of occasions given assistance by Rita – faultless, professional assistance on every occasion. We would highlight we found staff service throughout our stay and across the hotel very good indeed. Our return visit for just one night prior to flying out of Hawaii found us being upgraded to a suite in Rainbow Tower on the 29th floor. This was an extremely spacious room with a lounge area including sofas, large hanging wardrobe, safe, coffee etc, large flat tv. Room included a very contemporary fully tiled bathroom area with large separate walk in shower with glass partition which provided the “wow” factor. Even though this was only a one night stay as we exited Hawaii it really did feel “home from home” and nice to return to such a welcoming and relaxing environment. Hotel offers a number of weekly activities including a luau and fantastic firework display which can be viewed from the beach on a Friday night. The site includes an extensive range of shops including 2 Starbucks, ABC stores, jewellery and clothing shops and numerous eating establishments. The site is immaculately kept with gardens and ponds full of koi carp. Would definitely return to the HHV and Rainbow Tower rooms.

Room Tip: Rainbow Tower has recently been refurbished and is excellent quality with good views

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow Tower from Aug 29 to Sept 5, 2012. Costco Travel booked the stay at the Ai'i Tower but moved us to the Rainbow Tower because of the remodeling. Costco Travel also arranged for a daily buffet breakfast for two. Lynn at the desk checked us in and found an ocean view room on the 12th floor facing Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head Crater. The view was magnificent. The two double beds were very comfortable.
The first day there was a computer problem with the tower elevators. A staff member led a group of 30 waiting people around to a group of service elevators. On our descent later other guests told us to take the service elevators down. Later in the evening the elevators were fixed. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned early every day. We appreciated the in room safe which we used every day.
We enjoyed eating at the restaurants on site including the Tropics Bar and Grille, CJ's, Round Table Pizza, and the Bali Steak House. I enjoyed the sea food medley at the Bali Steak House. It was tender and tasted wonderful. We also went to the Hilton luau. The buffet was good and the show was entertaining. The fire dancers were great.
We enjoyed the beach and ocean and even rented an umbrella and chaise lounges one day. The sun was very hot and we had to change positions several times. The faucets to wash off feet were helpful. The Friday night fireworks were spectacular from the beach.
We also enjoyed the little shops in the Rainbow Bazaar.

Stayed here two times in 2012. The location is nice but expect to walk to main Waikiki strip or cab it for $7 dollars. The beach is great, wide and lots of sand for those crowded days. They have a pool with three slides and one of them is surprisingly even an entertainment for adults. The cost is always reasonable for about 225 a night. If u have a family consider the tapa tower family room it's definitely roomy enough for 4-5 people with two beds and a comfy sofa bed (surprisingly comfy).

We spent one week here early September and enjoyed almost everything about this large property. We were in a high floor in Tapa tower, with a partial oceanview and king bed...the view was fine, could watch rolling waves and surfers and see whole lagoon from chair on balcony between other towers as well as the green mountains and the city lights. perfectly fine view, large room, very comfy beds, extremely helpful housekeeper. We felt the restaurants on property were a little high priced but it's hawaii, folks! They offered a variety in food and price and we actually loved CJ Deli and Bali Steakhouse the best. I thought the shops were interesting, no more expensive than Ala Moana Mall shops, the cooky store offered free samples, Lapperts ice cream the best! Loved the fireworks show on Fri nite and found the Rockin Hula Show fun. Negatives: way too much to rent beach stuff, if you have no car, hard to buy any. Also very unfriendly and unhelpful tour desk personnel at Tapa Tower altho everywhere else on property, encountered very good staff. Another highlite: you can use the beautiful Mandara Spa facilities for a mere $l7 pp all day if you have to check out early and want more than a brief visit to a free hospitality room to clean up...very relaxing as is the peaceful Kalia tower pool. Would definitely stay again...do your research regarding good rooms, construction, crowds, etc and you won't be surprised or disappointed.

Room Tip: Avoid diamond head tower (old), get high floor for better views and avoiding construction noise.

We stayed at the HHV from 8/27-9/6. We were scared with some of the reviews we were reading prior to arriving but I must say this place was AMAZING. We were in the Tapa tower room 2751 and didn't have one problem with our room. It definitely was updated and had the most amazing view of the ocean & diamond head. My kids had a hard time leaving! Housekeeping was great, making sure we were good with towels, toiletries, etc. each day. There were days that I left my laptop and some cameras out in the open and we never had a problem with anything missing. In fact, all the staff we encountered were super friendly and extremely helpful. On our last visit to Oahu we stayed at the Kahala resort and this was way better. If you want dolphins, go there...if you want a great vacation BOOK HERE!
I don't understand how some people complain that this place is too big and can't walk to the beach, lagoon, pool, etc. Like I stated earlier, we were in the Tapa tower--which according to several reviews is FAR FROM THE BEACH but we were at the beach 5 minutes after leaving our room so I don't get what all the fuss is about. Yes this place is huge but it's not in no way not walkable between all the places they have to offer. Even the fact that the pool in our tower was not accessable during our stay (they're renovating it) was not a problem. The Superpool is on the way to the beach literally steps away from the penguin pool so it's not like you're missing out on anything. Everything about this place was great from the drinks, to the food, to the beach/pool/lagoon. We really can't wait to go back. If you're thinking about visiting this place, think no more--you won't regret it one bit!

Room Tip: Our Room - Tapa 2751 was awesome with ocean and Diamond head views
