“Quiet and good view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

We spent one night on our way "out of the islands". A bit away from the crowds on waikiki, but still close enough to the beach and shopping. The room was overlooking the harbour (12th floor) and was quiet, but during the night the elevators were a bit noisy. If you want a quiet, discreet and comfortable hotel this could be your choice. No traffic noise to worry about and less than 30 min to the airport by cab (with no traffic) around 30 usd for the cab.

On the periphery of central Waikiki, this hotel has an exceptional, unobstructed ocean and yacht harbor view. It's no more than a 15 minute walk for us seniors to the heart of Waikiki and the hotel has free shuttles every half hour that stops in 3 spots on the "strip." The shuttle (with special kudos to weekday driver Dan) starts in the early afternoon and goes well into the evening. You can also walk easily to the Ala Moana shopping center or the Ala Wai ocean park in 10 minutes and there's a large grocery store a couple more minutes away.

The ocean/harborside rooms are on such a quiet street that there's no problem leaving windows open at night. And just to have opening windows is unusual and enjoyable. We set up a table and chairs by the window to create our own quasi balcony.

The rooms are very spacious with refrigerator, coffee maker, and safe. Like the common areas, they are in serious need of repainting. Dings and scuffs are numerous and detract from the basic quality of the hotel.

Very helpful and friendly front desk, although why they can't provide a decent area map is a mystery. There is an inexpensive ($10 per person vs. $32 for a cab) shuttle to the airport.

We never ate at any of the hotel's restaurants, but there are numerous ones in the vicinity, from fast food to somewhat upscale.

Internet (wireless) is fairly expensive with some reduction for a weekly rate. Hard-wired is $21 per hour at the business center. You can go to the coffee shop on Ala Moana kitty corner from the hotel (by McDonald's) and get free wifi with a nice breakfast.

Room Tip: Everything should have an exceptional view. Rooms that are higher in the two towers would have a ma...

Room was comfortable with a lovely view. On the down side, no cafe for breakfast and lunch. Beach shuttle doesn't start until 12:30 so quite a walk for breakfast. And the saddest thing; I left something valuable to me in the room, and the chambermaid did not turn it to the lost and found. Sob!

Room Tip: The higher the better.

This newer hotel (20+ years) situated on the entrance to Waikiki from the downtown financial center on Ala Moana Blvd. It is great for the business traveler since you can avoid all the traffic in/out of Waikiki. It's not on the beach but in walking distance to the beach but overlooks the Ala Wai Yaht Harbor. Also Ala Moana Shopping Center is about a half mile away. It is a hotel of choice for many business traveler, who relies on ground transportation from those who reside on Oahu. All rooms have a spectacular ocean view.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view so don't worry about a good room.

Hubby and I just got back home from our mini vacation in honolulu..We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights at thehawaii prince hotel in waikiki.. We get there sunday morning at around 10:15 and the front desk said our room is not yet ready until 12 so we decided to just leave our baggage at the bell desk area. The hotel is just 8-10 minutes walk to ala Moana Shopping center and they have FREE shuttle that will take you to the other shops in waikiki and at the waikiki beach.. Shuttle runs every 10-20 minutes from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM..If you like go hiking at diamond head, cruise etc. you can also talk to the approachable concierge & travel agents at the main lobby. For breakfast, most of the time we buy food at the marina front cafe for light breakfast like muffins, croissants, sandwiches, coffee, bento (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage & rice or french toast) etc.. our room is located at 12th floor ala moana tower room 1214.. we get a nice ocean view room..well,ALL rooms here are ocean view so its really really great.. Our housekeeper for that time during our stay did a great job too..thank you for making our bed and room clean and fresh everyday.. definetly will come back again.. :)

- Great views, like all other hotels on the beach. I paid extra for a higher floor.
- No balconies, but really big sliding windows. Unless you're planning to stay in the room all day, don't worry about this. There's no beach outside anyway.
- It's on the east side of Waikiki's edge, which might be less busy.
- The restaurant is only ok. We only had lunch there once during the week. The Asain cuisine seemed very popular.
- Not a problem for us, but there was no room service at night.
- Internet is expensive at $20 per day.
- Parking is expensive at $20 per night, and does fill up.
- The concierge help was great. They know every tour, trip and necessity we asked about.
- For breakfast, the little coffee shop was perfect. Excellent local coffee and breakfast croissant.
- It's a good 10 to 15 minute walk to the Waikiki beach area.
- Front desk was flawless, checkin/out, assistance, etc.
- 3 car rentals across the street!
- The Waiki ping line trolley is 1 block away. $2 one-way exact cash fair is good to get in/out of Waikiki.

Room Tip: The higher, the better, pay that little extra.

If you are not sure what hotel to stay due to the fact the are so meany ,, this motel would be the best place to stay and the pic of the rooms are true ,, there not fake pics,,Nice and Quiet, first of all the rooms are excellent ,,if u like the grate views ,, stay 29th floor and up ,Great outlook over Yatch Harbour. Dining and shopping are just across of street, and Ala Moana shopping center is just a 3 blocks down the street , witch has a very big food court inside of the mall. Parking is 19 dollars a day if u park yourself , other wise is 25 dollars a day if the park your car for u.They have internet ,, but if u use it it well cost you 12 dollars a day , if you like to stay in this motel , we do recommend that to rent the car ,,if you don't it well cost you some money to get around ,, but if you do rent the car ,, make sure you have GPS ,, because you are in a big city and no one knows how to give direction, so don't ask for direction, just use your GPS and it well take you where you want to go ,, i have Garmin GPS and it worked so good .There is no resort fee in this hotel ,witch most of the hotel charge you 20 dollars a day for resort fee,, nice about this motel there is no hiding fee.

Room Tip: Higher floors are the best
