“Newly remodeled, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

This hotel is on the western edge of Waikiki in front of a marina. There is no beach in front like most other waterfront hotels. The beach begins just to the east of the hotel at the Hilton Waikiki.

Thisis an older hotel that recently completed room renovations in August 2011. The rooms are nice although the suite I was assigned had wallpaper that looked old and stained. The hallways look old as well.

The front counter staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Was upgraded to a suite just to get adjacent rooms with one king and two double beds!!! The view from the rooms was great! All rooms face the water.

Bathrooms were massive with separate shower and bathtub and Aveda products are used.

Parking is 15 dollars a day and never had a difficult time getting a spot. The fee is very reasonable for Waikiki.

Stay was excellent....

We are walkers and enjoyed the walk down to Wakkiki beach each day. This hotel was within our budget to get some luxury and not break the bank. The view was lovely, the beds comfy and the service was fine.

Thank you, Thank you for a wonderful stay in a luxurious property!! We stayed at the end of September on the 32nd floor, with a king-sized bed, huge bathroom, clean and crisp bed linens, etc. As others have noted, all rooms face the ocean, so a great view would never be a problem here. Our walk to the beach was less than 5 minutes, and all services including umbrella rentals, surfboards, beach chairs, etc. were immediately available. We loved the seafood buffet and would definitely eat there again! The hotel's pool was quiet and very clean and there was food and drink service available. There are many options for shopping and eating all around this hotel without the need for a taxi or car. Service from all areas of the hotel we accessed was impeccable, and when in Waikiki again, we would thoroughly love to stay at The Prince again!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in mid september 2011 for 9 days on our honeymoon. We had a great time in Honolulu and this hotel was perfect for us. The room was recently renovated, very clean and felt very comfortable. We stayed on the 12th floor and had a great view of the ocean, the Ala Wai Harbour, Ala Moana Beach Park and the financial area of Honolulu.

It was a 10-15 minute walk to Waikiki beach which was not the most convenient, but it was nice to get away from the large volume of tourists in the Waikiki area. The hotel did have a shuttle every 1/2 an hour to the Waikiki area for shopping and to enjoy the beach. There was also a huge outdoor mall, Ala Moana Center, that had every store you could want.

This hotel only had japanese restaurants which was a little disappointing, but there was an Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Buffalo Wild Wings Bar & Grill, McDonalds and a good little pub called the Chart House within a couple minute walk of the hotel. We were usually gone sightseeing and doing tours so it was not a big deal that the hotel didn't have a restaurant that we liked. Tommy at the Expedia desk in the hotel lobby was amazing and helped us plan our tours.

Overall we had an amazing time and if we ever had the chance to go back to Honolulu we would stay at this hotel again!

Room Tip: The 12th floor had an amazing view and was very quiet from the street noise

The hotel is not on the beach and it is a good 10-15 minute walk to get to the beach. The rooms were so so, clean, but nothing special. We stayed here for 2 nights coming back from Maui to attend a wedding in Oahu. If you are traveling for business and you want to be in and out quickly, this may be a good spot, but if you are looking for a vacation I would not stay here, purely because of location.

My 3 nights stay at the Hawaii Princess l was nice and comfortable. I had a great ocean view room with a very spacious interior and bathroom. Service was impeccable and compared to Marriott or Sheraton, I would say from 50% less of the price, you can be comfortable.
The only downside would be that beach access is difficult as you would have to walk to either Hilton village or to the Ala Moana partk. As I was not on a beach vacation, I wasn't very interested in going to the beach. I think I would have if it were just t right outside the hotel. It's a pity. But I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

The service was impeccable. The pillows were the best ever! The price was right. A beautiful rainbow adorned the sky as we gazed across the marina from our hotel room the first morning we were there. Whether you choose Hawaii Prince comes down to location. I will stay closer, within walking distance to Waikiki Beach, next time we go, and at a hotel with a balcony. Our favorite thing to do in Honolulu is spend time on the beach. Cab service from Hawaii Prince to Waikiki Beach is $10-$12, which is no problem. But when you're ready to come back from the beach, it's difficult to get a cab. When leaving the beach, we walked a few steps to the nearest hotel and ask the bellman to hail a cab. The bellman was happy to oblige and explained, "The reason cabs don't stop for you is because you're just leaving the beach and you might have sand on your feet or wet bathing suits, which would leave the cab a less hospitable environment for the next customers. It's a lot of liability for the cab driver to take on for a minimal trip." Walking back to the Hawaii Prince is not always an option with small children. If you rent a car, I'm not sure where you'd park at Waikiki Beach. So, if you intend to spend most of your time on Waikiki Beach, you would benefit from staying at a hotel on the beach. Ala Moana Beach Park is within walking distance of the hotel, but it is full of homeless people, and the beach is not nearly as attractive as Waikiki Beach. One big plus to the Hawaii Prince is its proximity to Ala Moana Mall, which has a HUGE food court with myriad culinary options. Overall, I would recommend the Hawaii Prince, unless you plan to spend most of your time on Waikiki Beach.
