“A once grand, now faded Beauty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

First off... The staff... I was impressed, with several friendly, helpful, and personable staff people! Loved them...I got an interior room that was dated, clean, but tiny. On the bad side, a bath sink that didn't want to drain, touchy card-keys and a $10/night additional WiFi connection fee....

Room Tip: Anything other than a business trip... get a sea or mountain view!

Found this hotel on trip advisor where we were looking for a nice budget hotel, being students tight on cash! Came across the Aston Beachside Hotel quickly and read the great reviews that people had provided. If you are looking for an upscale hotel with a large range amenities this isn't the place for you, but Hawaii is about exploring the beautiful landscape and swimming at the beach so a fancy hotel just isn't necessary unless you expect to spend a lot of time there. Room was very clean although dated, was serviced daily and the staff were amazing - particularly Lave! They felt like family in the 12 days that we stayed. The only downside of our room was the lack of wifi but we hardly used it. There is free wifi in the main lobby + mcdonalds across the road! Best location out of all the hotels- right across the road from the main part of Waikiki beach opposite the 'Duke statue'. The Hilton was far up the stretch of Waikiki and did not match the location of the Aston Beachside. All in all a wonderful stay and i recommend this hotel for everyone! Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Although rooms with front beach views are a bonus, we stayed in a partial beach view and it was stil...

I found the hotel on Hotel Tonight at a great discount on a last minute trip to Oahu. Love that the hotel was directly across from the beach. We had an interior room that was dated but clean and comfortable.

First and foremost, this location is PERFECT, and the place is clean-ish (what needs to be clean) and the bed is COMFORTABLE! However, if you are looking for an upscale hotel, this is not the place.

My husband and I wanted to see as much of Hawaii as possible, so we didn't spend much time in the room, so this hotel was perfect for us at the price.

However, the hotel is extrememly outdated, paint chipping, bird poop all over the balcony, lights falling off of the wall. If you can get past that, you are fine.

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. That was really all I was hoping for. You can't beat this location for this price.

The staff is extremely friendly. We only had one issue with a guy who was constantly leaving his post for smoke breaks.

Overall, I would stay there again if I was on a budget :)

I had read other reviews and decided this sounded like a good deal for a great price and decided to gamble that sometimes you DO get more than you pay for. This is a "boutique" hotel (??) and did not have many rooms. It was older as were the furnishings but everything was very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. You can not find a better location as it was directly across the street from the center of Waikiki Beach. Newer hotels on the same block were 3 times the price. We were going on a cruise and only spending a few nights so we did not plan on being in the room much so all we cared about was the location and price. No extras but they had everything you needed. I would stay here again if I went back to Hawaii.

Room Tip: I would not want to sleep right next to the elevator. Most of the rooms only had 2 twin beds.

We stayed here for 4 days at the start of our trip and 4 days at the end (with a 7 days stay on Kauia in between). In a word it was great, we spent a little more and got the deluxe ocean views but it was well worth it. We first stayed on level 4 with great ocean views. The staff were sooo friendly and the vibe so good we cancelled 4 days booked at the outrigger by the beach and stayed at the beachside for the final 4 nights, Level 7 ocean views (even better). We loved coming back here at the end of the day after dining out Getting a bottle of red wine and people watching the evening away. Interesting characters to say the least, and great waves straight across the road. We can’t recommend it highly enough, the rooms were a little old but neat and clean with lots of Hawaiian 80’s character. Give it a go. Avoid the monster sterile resorts and go the Beachside you will not regret it. A1... don't worry about the tiny elevator, use the stairs and earn your drinks.

First of all let me say that this was our 11th trip to hawaii in the last 11 yrs and have stayed at many hotels, this being the first time at the AWB. First let me say to all those that wrote reviews and complained about something about the room. You go to Hawaii to see Hawaii not to spend the day in the room. a clean room with a nice bed is all you need. That you have with the AWB. Now to the rest, the employees are all the nicest and friendliest you will find except for the old guy that works overnight (didn't get his name) when ever I asked a question or made a statement to him his reply was a grouchy question back at me, so after a few times I didn't ask him anything anymore. Now to the lanai, we paid more for the room so we could have a lanai, to sit out on at night and enjoy the Hawaiian evening. Well our lanai was full of pigeon "poop" of which I took pics, I went to the front desk and told them and they send someone up to clean it. well the next morning I looked out and there might have been a little very bit of it cleaned but the chairs and table were moved to the other end of the lanai as a rememdy. We still didn't use it as dried pigeon "poop" blown in the air can cause a medical problem called "Histoplasmosis" its a scarring of the lungs from breathing it. This was the 4th hotel we stayed in in Waikiki and by far was the best as far as location. The bed was great, id like to bring the mattress home it was so good. yes its outdated but so are the other 3 hotels we stayed in, other then the high end hotels with rooms for $800 a night most of the hotels in Waikiki are outdated. hotels we stayed at on maui and the big island we also outdated. in closing if I knew of the pigeon poop I sure wouldn't have paid more for the room for a lanai, I found it hard to believe as the rest of the hotel was spotless, the maids do a real good job of cleaning but apparently they never look at a lanai or clean it. The AWB is a great hotel to stay at, friendly staff ( or most of them) and a clean comfortable bed, that is all u need when going to Hawaii.

Room Tip: check out the lanai for pigeon poop before u pay more for it
