“Good location, clean, great customer service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

First time I've stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, and no complaints! Upon arrival, greeted by valet (even though did no use their service), they took my luggage right away and when I got checked into my room, no more than 5 minutes later was my luggage delivered. I also checked in early, and my room was available. Bonus. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. Besides a minor paint job, the hotel itself was a block away from the beach and shopping. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here in the future. Did not make it to the Tiki Bar or use the pool or free breakfast, so can't speak to those amenities. But highly recommend!

We stayed here recently for 8 nights and were really pleased we chose this hotel. The location is fantastic - just over the road from the beach. It is also really handy to the shops and all the tour buses stop here. Had a super king bed which was huge with daily servicing.

The first night we arrived the fridge was humming really loudly and when we rang to ask for it to be fixed, they simply put a new fridge in. We asked for a room high up and quiet and that is what we got.

They also had travel desks in the hotel which you could book excursions through. We booked a snorkelling trip and were pleased with the price we paid and what we got for the money. Well worth taking the time to stop and talk to the lady.

We would definitely go back here but would ask for a room on the swimming pool side, not the Diamond Head side, as the balconies were bigger on that side.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up and away from the lift and on the pool side - bigger balconies.

Aloha Linda! I am pleased to learn you had a memorable Hawaiian vacation and had an opportunity to take part in some favorite activities such as snorkeling. There are incredible snorkeling and dive sites on Oahu, as well as the other Hawaiian Islands. Thank you for staying with us, and for reviewing our property.

My new husband and I stayed here for 2 nights as the first part of our honeymoon. His parents had stayed at this location 35 years ago during their honeymoon so it was the only hotel we looked at. We booked a regular "partial ocean view" but were upgraded to a deluxe partial ocean view upon check in. Staff was very friendly.

Our room was decently sized but in need of an update. Years of wear and tear were very clear. It didn't feel "unclean" per say but needed a fresh coat of paint and a new mattress badly.

Pros: The breakfast and movies that fall under the amenity fee were very nice. We enjoyed picking out our food nice and early for the best selection and taking it up to our room and packing the cooler they provide for later on (By early I mean 7am at the latest!).

Cons: It seems they spent more on the elevator system than anything else. Too complicated and wasted too much time. This is a very busy hotel. Our first and only experience in Waikiki so I don't know if its the case everywhere but relaxing is not the atmosphere you get. Luckily we only needed a place to lay our heads down before moving on.

Do not pay for valet ($27 a day!). Park next door at the zoo for a dollar an hour.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 8th floor on the pool side. Nice view of the ocean. .

Aloha Ashley, and thank you for choosing to spend your honeymoon at our hotel. We are happy to say that we are currently undergoing a room refresh project, and anticipate sharing the improvements with our guests. Because our hotel is so busy, we improved our elevator system during the last renovation. The newer technology decreases wait times, and also increases security. We thank you again for staying with us, and sincerely apologize for any inconveniences. We appreciate your continued support, and look forward to welcoming you again. Sincerely, Rebecca; Guest Services Coordinator

The location of this hotel is ideal. Got a partial ocean view and it was excellent. We had a great view to the west along Waikiki Beach. Quick check in at the front desk. Elevators required a card key to get to any floor above the main lobby which was great for security. Staff was excellent in cleaning the room daily. It was a great choice by my son who took me to Hawaii as a birthday present. I would stay at this hotel any time I was in Waikiki. Also, the Expedia concierge desk did an excellent job of helping us plan our activities for the week. Well done to all the staff at this hotel.

Room was clean and well furnished. Suite has small fridge with complimentary snacks and drinks which was nice. We were greeted at the front desk by Kathy who was very polite and courteous in true hawaian form.
Breakfast on the beach was a perfect way to start our morning exploring the International Marketplace. Which by the way will be closing December 31st and a Saks Fifth Avenue will be built. We thought the elevator system worked well and allowed us to get to our room more quickly without having to stop at other people's floor.
Location was perfect with easy beach access, park access, and most all tour buses stopped in front of the hotel to pick up passengers.
We highly reccommend this hotel for families and adventurers.

Room Tip: Front desk is located up the escalator on the 3rd floor (really the 2nd).

Thank you for staying at our hotel- I am glad to see you enjoyed our friendly service and location. Many tourists from all over the world visit Waikiki each year for the shopping opportunities. Ala Moana Shopping center is a short bus ride from our hotel, and the shopping center that will replace the International Marketplace will be walking distance. Thank you for reviewing our property, and recommending our hotel. Sincerely, Rebecca; Guest Services Coordinator

Location, location, location. If you want to be in Honolulu, you may as well be in the heart of it all & this definitely meets that requirement. Great bar on the 3rd floor with food available until 11:30pm. Calamari steak was delish! Cool security in the elevators doesn't let anyone get past the 3rd floor without a room key & the elevators knew your floor once you competed the security process to get on - kinda cool! Room is basic (no mini frig, no coffee maker) but the water pressure in the shower was amazing & the water was hot. Coffee maker isn't a huge deal as coffee is available at the pool around dawn. And there is a Starbucks 175 ft from our 16th floor room. Partial oceanview room was just as pictured online, but I think we should have sprung for oceanfront or not bothered. Beach is directly across the street (close and convenient) without the beachfront resort price tag. Resort fee is $18/nt & covers free DVD rentals, free wifi in the room and free breakfast. Could include other items, but those are the ones that I can remember!

Thank you for sharing your awesome review! Tiki's Grill and Bar is one of the local and tourist favorites in Honolulu. The food, happy hour, and live music each evening keep people coming back time and time again. I am glad you had the opportunity to spend time there! Please contact me if you will stay with us again, I would be happy to assist with your reservation. Maybe you can try the Ocean Front category next time? 4 night stay at the Aston Waikiki. Breakfast on the Beach was one of the reasons we booked this hotel but is disappointing. You have to go to the beach because there's not enough tables or sun loungers to sit on to eat breakfast! Cereals, muffins, donuts and similar is sufficient but you have to put it in the little cooler bag (including disposal cups of milk for your cereal) so is not very practical. Some rooms are on an open landing (numbers 1-8 approx). Rooms are well equipped but could do with some sprucing up - bath and sink very slow to drain, balcony doors hard to open). We had a room with a good ocean view but the hotel I s in quite a noisy area with seemingly every tour/trolley bus going down the side road. Breakfast singer starts at about 7am so if you want a sleep-in, use earplugs! Aston Waikiki Beach is at the far end of the beachfront so if you don't like walking, you may want to select something a bit more central.

Room Tip: Get a room number higher than about xx8 if you don't want to be on the outside landing. Also, th...

Aloha, Viv. We were sorry to learn that you were disappointed in our breakfast arrangement. 'Breakfast on the Beach' cooler bags are intended for our guests to pack their breakfast to take to the beach, their rooms, take along for on-the-go day time activities, or to enjoy poolside while listening to live Hawaiian music. Our breakfast crew will consider your experience as they research new ideas to improve their service.

We also have rooms located on the east side of our hotel which is not affected by the morning entertainment. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences. Thank you for traveling from Melbourne to visit Waikiki, and for taking the time to review our property. Mahalo, Rebecca; Guest Services Coordinator
