We stayed at the ResortQuest Pacific Monarch while it was still the Aston Pacific Monarch. Our stay there was exactly what we expected and wanted - an inexpensive place to stay with all the amenities, a great location, and a great view. We chose this hotel because they had a kitchenette, and we had heard that it was expensive to eat out in Hawaii at the restaurants. It worked out well because there was a small convenience store downstairs next to the lobby where we could pick up drinks to put in our refrigerator, and eggs, bread, and milk to make breakfast in the morning to save some money. A couple of times we did eat a buffet breakfast at the Beachcomber in Waikiki that was delicious and affordable too. As for lunch and dinner, our favorite spot was Cheeseburger in Paradise up by the beach which is 5 minute walk.
What we also liked about this hotel was that it wasn't noisy and crowded with a lot of stuff going on within the hotel because of a restaurant or bar. We wanted our stay there to be peaceful.
We had a One Bedroom Partial Ocean View room which was lovely. We had a long lanai that you could walk out to from the bedroom or the living room doors. We spend a lot of time out there in the mornings and the evenings looking at the views of the ocean and city and surrounding hillside. The room was clean and comfortable. The beds were two twin beds pushed together to form a queen, but they were just as comfortable as a queen bed. We didn't have any problems with sleeping at night. In fact, we liked to open the doors to the lanai to let the cool ocean breezes in. The living room area that one of our party stayed in on the pull-out couch was also comfortable because that area was well air-conditioned.
The kitchen area was clean and perfect for cooking and making coffee or tea with all of the dishes, mugs, glasses, and utensils you would need. There's a kitchen table to sit down and eat at, and plenty of brochures to browse through if you need to find things to do on the island.
The living room area had a couch and a t.v. and was air conditioned. The decor was tropical and pretty - very soothing for our vacation.
The hotel entrance is a small lobby with a pretty fountain and a front desk. When you step through the door to the elevator and wait to go up to your room there is a fabulous fish tank filled with tropical fish.
The hotel also has a pool and a jacuzzi on the roof with lounge chairs and stunning views of the ocean and surrounding hillside. We enjoyed taking pictures up there and getting to sit in the jacuzzi for awhile at night looking up at the sky after a long day of seeing the sights.
There is a parking lot inside the hotel where we never had a problem getting a spot since we had rented a car because we wanted to see a lot of Oahu.
We loved staying in Oahu and the Pacific Monarch hotel made it a pleasant experience. There are many things to do on the island if you can even get outside of Waikiki to do them. Among our many adventures and experiences, we went to Diamond Head and saw amazing views of the ocean, hillside, and city of Waikiki, saw a sunset at Sunset Beach, went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiked through a bamboo forest to get to Manoa Falls, saw beautiful plants and flowers at the Lyon Arboretum, and went swimming with dolphins and snorkeling with sea turtles on the west side of the island.
We loved Hawaii and our experience was so memorable that we can't wait to go back. We would stay at the Pacific Monarch again.
