“Great bargain -- great staff -- good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

The other reviews are correct -- this hotel is a great bargain in the heart of Waikiki... great restaurants right outside the front door. The public spaces are slightly old around the edges, but are kept up well enough; the rooms themselves were fully updated. Upgrading to an upper floor is essential due to street noise around the hotel. Every single staff person we met was a delight... so helpful and informative. Being adjacent to the International Marketplace was nice.

Room Tip: Upper floors are essential due to street noise.

Wife and I came back to Waikiki after a 35 year absence hoping to find the aloha spirit. Waikiki has changed over the years and lost most of the aloha spirit. But we found it in this hotel. We had to call for directions and Miko spent and hour with us on the phone. After we found the place and she checked us in with so much love that made us feel welcome.

The staff did an excellent job making us feel welcome. They provided excellent directions to where we wanted to go by bus so we didn't have to move the car.

Even when we had an emergency the staff was there immediately to lend assistance. And they were very attentive days after the incident.

So if you are looking for the Aloha Spirit this hotel and all of the staff has an abundance of it. And shares it willingly.

Family of 4 stayed here. Great location to beach, bus depot, and shopping. Clean, good value and friendly staff. Would recommend. Had read it was a bit noisy. We stayed on 9th floor and barely heard music, but our days were filled with fun so we slept pretty good. Frig, micro in room. Comfortable beds.

I stayed at the aqua wave in November of last year I wrote a bad review about the late check in delay we had to wait until 4pm to check in so we were sitting in the lobby for several hours. The second elevator was broken so most people just decided to run up and down the stairs the elevator was broken the year before too. and the hotel places ear plugs on the table due to the excessive noise from about 10pm-430am it was difficult to sleep at night and lead to very restless days. After this review I wrote last year I got a email from the hotel manager George Bermudez saying that the hotel was sorry and if future travels should take me back to waikiki to contact him directly so he could assist me with my hotel needs WHICH WAS USELESS! I tried to contact him through phone several times and by email. I never got a reply back. This hotel is not worth the price you pay every night and I'm not a picky person but I had several problems during my stay and the icing on the cake was really the false promise by the general manager himself which clearly he doesn't intend to keep with his costumers.

Recently stayed for 11 nights at the Aqua Waikiki Wave Hotel. A very welcoming and friendly experience from our 11pm check-in to our 12 noon check-out. Kisha on reception is an absolute gem with her friendly attitude and local knowledge which she was only to happy to share. She never failed to wish us 'Aloha' and the hope that we were going to have a great day.
We stayed on the 7th floor on the Duke Lane side and did not have any problem with noise except for Friday and Saturday night when they have music and entertainment in the International Market but cotton wool in the ears blocked out any noise and we enjoyed good sleep on the very comfortable beds. The bed linen was fresh and was changed 3 times in the short time we stayed by the very friendly housekeeping staff. Plenty of hot water in the shower - no matter what time of day. The lifts have been upgraded and the longest time we had to wait was approx. 2-3 mins at the busiest time of the day. Had a blocked toilet one day (not our fault) and the maintenance guy arrived only 5 mins after a phone call. Problem solved immediately and efficiently.
A great bakery only 3 doors along for light breakfasts, lunches etc and with the International Market just behind the hotel its in a great location for food.
To sum up, the hotel is a little tired in places but the great staff more than make up for any deficiencies. I would definitely recommend this hotel to budget travellers who want a great location and friendly, efficient staff.

Room Tip: 7th floor Duke Lane side - very little noise. As far from the lifts as possible.

This hotel was so close to the beach, excellent staff, very comfortable bed, and room was clean. great prices, and i would definetely stay again, and recommend to my friends.i loved that we could walk out the door in any direction, and everything was right there. restaraunts, the beach, shopping. we were surrounded by the international market, and loved walking around in the evenings looking for cheap souveniers! it does get noisier at night, but we didnt mind :)

Very nice housekeeper named Alma C. assisted our elderly auntie immensely and guest attendant Will helped with walking her to and from the parking to elevator~so thank-ful for the above average excellent customer service from these people~would definitely come again!!!
