“Super location, great price, good stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Pros: Two blocks from Waikiki Beach and easy access to great shopping and restaurants...anything from the outdoor market to Macy's and high end retailers. Super variety of restaurants all around. Luggage storage after checkout. Very fast check in/check out. Friendly staff. Clean room, updated furnishing and linens, microwave, minifridge, coffee maker, blow dryer, free wifi access. Comfortable bed. We were on a higher floor and enjoyed coffee on the balcony with an obstructed but still nice view of the beach and immediate area. Fantastic price as compared with other hotels in the area. Good sized room, larger than average. Good pre-cruise option.

Cons: Tub/shower surround looked dingy, low water pressure in shower, and slow drains in sink and tub. Low lighting in bathroom. Slow wifi speed, not worth trying. Beware of scammers who call rooms and try to get credit card information from guests. They have information warning guests about this next to the room's telephone. Also, elevators are a little slow. Be sure to look for the elevator in small alcove to the left of the main bank. You can push buttons for both sets and stand in the doorway of the alcove to watch which one will open first.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Diamond Head side with a balcony. Can't see Diamond Head, but that's...

“Very bad location - lots of noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Rooms are relatively nice inside, except for the rusty old tub and bathroom. Rooms seemed relatively clean.Rooms seemed to be renovated in the last coupe years. Rest of the building seems dated. Lobby extremely small for size of hotel and fronts busy street. A place to avoid when a tour bus arrives.
Location of hotel is extremely busy. Lots of street noise, especially at night. I get the feeling that this could be considered "the red light district" of Waikiki Beach, as both nights I stayed there were women screaming in the alley below. Can only guess what that was about. Night clubs and lots of late night noise.
Pool access is strange. Like entering a prison. Down the alley, up some stairs through a locked fence gate. Cement walls on all sides. Not very appealing.
Access to Waikiki Beach through the MarketPlace is a short walk.

Having stayed at literally 1000 of hotels I rate this one a 2.5 out of 5.
Place to sleep. Bring your ear plugs (or ask front desk for some) and you will be fine.

Room Tip: Do not take a room facing Kuhiu/Diamonhead. Try to get a room on the beach end of the hotel.

“Worst hotel in the World”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

I am in the hotel right now. It's 12:57 AM on November 23rd. You can heard every rap song paying in every car driving by. The night club down stairs doesn't help. Thank God we only booked it for one night before going somewhere else.. I have never wrote a review about a hotel but I had to about this one. This is not the Hawaii experience you want for your family. Go somewhere else!!!!

Room Tip: Top floor!!

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your one night expectation. You actually stayed in the hotel on 11/23, a Friday Night on a holiday weekend. Yes the night life of the city can be loud, however, it isn't that way for just Waikiki Wave. Every hotel in Waikiki, especially on Kuhio Avenue, has this challenge from time to time.

Thank you for your review.

“Not bad...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

...for the price. Hotel was in a pretty good location, couple of blocks from the beach. If you walk through the International Markets (good experience) then you can walk through to the beach. Dukes Bar is on the beach, not cheap but good food, drinks and ambience. Back to the hotel...rooms were a good size, we got upgraded to the 14th floor because the room wasn't ready when we arrived. Bathroom was ok, clean but outdated. Front desk staff were ok. The bar attached to it The Big Kahuna is average. A bit expensive, adequate food and ok for a drink if you want one close to the hotel. I would stay there again, for the price and location but if you are looking for a bit of luxury, you should probably stay elsewhere.
