“Super location, best Bang for the Buck.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

This hotel delivers the "Bang for the Buck". The location is unbeatable, since it sits right within the perimeters of the the famous Ala Moana shopping center. There you can not only shop till you drop but also catch several "Trollies" that bring you everywhere. The rooms are up to spec and super clean. On the third floor happens to be the best Chinese restaurant of the island, The Royal Garden. If you like Japanese style lunch or breakfast, walk over to Shirakuya in the mall, where you have a huge variety of all kinds of foods from sushi to tempura.

Room Tip: Rooms that end with the number 8 to 16 have a nice ocean view.

There at the end of last summer. Room no. 3510,(I think),a corner room, with views of the ocean and the city, Ala Moana Park and Beach. Clean hotel, great value, a good and inexpensive Chinese restaurant on sight. Across from the harbor, muni buses and near downtown Honolulu. A goodvalue, and borders Ala Moana Shopping Center. If you wish to devoid yourself of the Waiki'ki madness, you will appreciate this property. Bus stop around the corner gives you access to the entire island and the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade...you may get it!

Lobby was big and beautiful! We got delayed overnight by AA. The only thing that was terrible was it was late like 1am and there was ONLY 2 staff/ check in. There was babies and young children waiting 2 HOURS to CHECK IN!!! We had to wait at least an hr b4 leaving the airport to receive our new flight info. and another hour in half on the plane NOT COOL.. The food was fine. Very comfortable beds and Clean!! Beautiful view but NOT Beach Side. I liked the bathrooms :)

Sorry to hear that your flight was delayed. Regarding the time it took to check into the hotel, we were only notified about an hour before you all arrived and to have 100+ unexpected arrivals causes some problems as we were not staffed for this. We do try to call staff in on these occasions but it is not always possible for them to get here. I hope that this did not spoil your vacation. Mahalo

Here for a business trip, the hotel is nicely located slightly off the beach but easy to walk to all local shops and bus stops and of coarse the Ala Moana shopping centre itself was great during my down time!
Staff are very friendly and the concierge was an incredible help to me with a wealth of knowledge about what to see and do and where to eat etc.
Rooms where basic but you you hardly spend time in them anyway!

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is nicer than looking over the Ala Moana car park and shopping centre.

Stayed here for a few days for a training seminar. This is a basic no frills value hotel - room size good, beds ok, no real eatery on premises, limited gift shop hours, adequate pool and fitness room. Location was perfect for this business trip because my wife was not bored having direct access to the large Ala Moana Mall across the hotels parking lot and also the beach area across the street. Surrounding area also very short walk to nice fairly inexpensive places to eat (option from mall food court).

Stayed here for two nights for a meeting elsewhere. The lobby is a large resort-style space with Hawaiian music playing. So you get the vacation vibe immediately even if your there for a meeting. Room was medium size with flat panel HD TV. The bed was great but not quite the pillowtop Hyatt, Hilton, Sheraton quality. Lots of channels, many languages. Any ocean view is distant between buildings. There is a bridge from the hotel to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Breakfast is served buffet style in an attached restaurant, no ala carte. Steep price for a buffet and for some reason the hot items were lukewarm. Lukewarm eggs are not too appealing to me. And, NO FREE COFFEE in the lobby. It comes from a self-serve pump jug outside the breakfast restaurant, but you have to pay.

The Ala Moana Hotel is located adjacent to the Ala Moana Shopping Center and very close to Ala Moana Park. The rooms are not super luxury, yet they are very comfortable. With all of the attractions on Oahu, most room time is spent sleeping anyway. The front desk staff are very friendly and and welcoming. There is a nice pool and a very well equipped fitness center. I usually stay there when my job requires an overnight stay on Oahu. The rates are very fairly priced. I also appreciate the many dining options nearby.
